New Grad Open House

I am graduating in May and will be attending a New Grad Open House this week for RN Interns. I have been out of the work force for 5-6 years and need to brush up on the interview process. The career center at school assisted me with my resume and cover letter. With this being an open house, should I take only resume copies? I couldn't fit everything on one page, so it is two pages. Obviously, I don't need to staple it - but should I put it in separate binders? If so, what kind? This is a second career for me. I don't have previous medical experience, so I need this to present well.

Any other advice is appreciated!!!

I would recommend just putting clean copies of your resume in a folder - carry it in a large tote bag or purse. You can also just do double-sided copies of your resume so that it is a single page and there is no chance of losing one of the pages. Be prepared to go ahead and fill out an application on-site if you are asked to do so. So, you'll need to make sure you have contact information for your personal references. Have a calendar handy so you can jot down any follow up appointments or reminders - your smart phone app is great.

Dress in conservative casual (pants with jacket is fine), comfortable shoes and minimal makeup/jewelry. Be sure to take business cards from any recruiters you speak with - follow up with a letter or email to them & another copy of your resume.

Go get 'em!!

Find a way to make it one page. I had a friend format mine and took a 3 page resume (I am over 40-long history and lots of education) and made it into one. I swear that is what got me my current (dream!!!) job.
