okay, this is my first post. i have read several post before and found it very encouraging that you can come here to help each other learn, vent or just be around a community of nurses going through similar situations. i am excited to say that i graduated december 2011, passed my board on jan 24th and now just yesterday got my very first job offer as a lpn yesterday. i started to get very discouraged and nervous after reading several posts about how hard it will be to find a new job as a new lpn nurse. the position is at a sub-acute care rehabilitation facility. i will get to work 3 12hr nights. i am so excited and nervous at the same time. i know that i will get plenty of experience and am just ready to get started. my orientation starts march 29th. i am thankful everyday that i decided to make this change in my life and excited to the future to get started a nurse.

for those of you new grads looking for work, keep you head up and try to stay positive. you just have to be persistent, check with your old classmates to see if they have found a job. sometimes it is all about who you know. that's how i got this one. my good friend from school got hired. another position opened and she put in a good word for me. i applied, had two interviews and a week later got an offer!!

life is good!

I live in Ohio, NE Columbus. I applied to a few places after I graduated but before I actually received my license. No one ever called or even looked at my resume until I actually got a license to practice. I don't know if this is the same everywhere, but I would not apply until you pass your NCLEX.

I don't think the job market or economy is quite the same as it was and a lot of places don't want to hire someone if they possibly might not pass to get their license.

That was just my experience though.

Good luck to you!!
