  1. Awesome. Always good to hear positive stories. Good luck. I will be starting my first nursing job in one week. We will have to let eachother know how it goes.:w00t:
  2. I wasn't trying to be nasty, however, when someone says "new grads you can eat it". Really. I have no tolerance for people who bully others just because it makes them feel better. No one is born a nurse and you too were also a new graduate learning the ropes and trying to do the best you can. Why is it that anyone should feel the need to purposely make someone else feel bad for what they have chosen to do or just because they don't know as much as you at the moment. Also the statement of "I am not just an LPN either, making 15 an hr". So what if you were, does that mean that your opinion would mean any less?! This is why I responded so harshly. You can't expect to throw out meaningless and hateful comments without expecting a backlash. I truly hope OP can find the right path, but in the meantime have some more compassion for others.
  3. First post - WOW!! Nurse Kratchet maybe it's time you look at yourself and see what changes you could make to make the situtation or your life better. All to often we always want to scream about how this and that needs to change, (and while that may be true) we never want to look in the mirror and ask "what can I do or change to improve my quality of life". With the outlook you have no doubt nothing will change. In fact it will probably only get worse. If you don't like being a nurse then don't. People usually go into nursing much as the same reason as a fire fighter or teacher. They want something different than the boring desk job. Or they want to make a difference in someone's lives. No, it is not always a walk in the park, but what in life is, really. What goes around comes around. One day you will rely on someone to take care of you, change your depends and help you use the toliet. You may just get the same type of person that you are. Think about it!! If you are looking for a job where you are constantly told how great you are, and constantly need a pat on the back, then nursing is not for you. Go get a corporate job where corruption is even worse....BELIEVE ME!!
  4. I live in Ohio, NE Columbus. I applied to a few places after I graduated but before I actually received my license. No one ever called or even looked at my resume until I actually got a license to practice. I don't know if this is the same everywhere, but I would not apply until you pass your NCLEX. I don't think the job market or economy is quite the same as it was and a lot of places don't want to hire someone if they possibly might not pass to get their license. That was just my experience though. Good luck to you!!
  5. okay, this is my first post. i have read several post before and found it very encouraging that you can come here to help each other learn, vent or just be around a community of nurses going through similar situations. i am excited to say that i graduated december 2011, passed my board on jan 24th and now just yesterday got my very first job offer as a lpn yesterday. i started to get very discouraged and nervous after reading several posts about how hard it will be to find a new job as a new lpn nurse. the position is at a sub-acute care rehabilitation facility. i will get to work 3 12hr nights. i am so excited and nervous at the same time. i know that i will get plenty of experience and am just ready to get started. my orientation starts march 29th. i am thankful everyday that i decided to make this change in my life and excited to the future to get started a nurse. for those of you new grads looking for work, keep you head up and try to stay positive. you just have to be persistent, check with your old classmates to see if they have found a job. sometimes it is all about who you know. that's how i got this one. my good friend from school got hired. another position opened and she put in a good word for me. i applied, had two interviews and a week later got an offer!! life is good!
