New grad and gaining weight?!?!

Nurses New Nurse

Published

Hey all --

I graduated in May 07, and just hit my 6 month mark of being a nurse. I never gained the freshman 15 of college, but, I feel like over the past two months, I've started gaining the nursing 15!! I don't even necessarily feel like my diet has changed.. but apparently it has!

I guess I'm looking for some reassurance that I'm not the only one having this problem?! :uhoh21:

Maybe you are finally relaxed and your body is not so stressed out anymore!! I find when I am stressed or on edge constantly that I lose weight, but when I am happy and relaxed I tend to put on a few pounds!!

Wow...I have the opposite problem...I gain when I'm stressed, maybe I'll lose when I start working!! :)

Not to mention all of the sitting at the computer working on everything. I just work and graze my way through the day. :crying2:

In my last clinical rotation (thank goodness I'm finished with those), I had to switch to a bigger size on my scrub pants. I was just afraid I was going to bust the ones I had. This creates a dilemma now that I am about to start working. I have several scrubs in my old size and now only 4 in the bigger size. Basically, I'm going to be wearing the same four outfits until I lose weight or can afford to buy more...and the latter is more likely! LOL

Although I have been trying to eat better..and there is a website that I've found that is wonderful! It's http://www.sparkpeople.com, check it out!

Have to find time to work out and get some exercise. I have the same problem.

You guys need to come work with me. In 9 weeks, I've lost 15 lbs because I never have time for a break and work/walk nonstop.

That's the good news about my LTC job.
