New grad that can't find any work

Nurses General Nursing

Published

I graduated from Nursing School in September, and took my boards 2 weeks after that. I have been an RN for almost 2 months. I have sent out 30-40 applications, and haven't heard anything! I am so frustrated. I was wondering if anyone has any advice for a new grad. Is there anything I can do that will set my apart from all the other applications? I have sent my resume and reccomendation letters to several nurse managers directly, and still nothing. I am in CT, willing to work any shift on any floor to start getting my experience, I have even applied to LTC and they don't hire new grads. I am unsure of what the next move is....any advice would be well received. Thanks

there's this thread and two threads about new grads who want to quit their first jobs because the commute is a drag, 12 hours is a long time to be away from your family, the new town sucks or they can't get along with their co-workers. i really wish those other new grads -- who have jobs but want to quit -- would read your post and be grateful for what they have!

i would absolutley consider moving, so if anyone has any good ideas for relocation....let me know.

Novant Healthcare( Presbyterian and Forsyth Medical) in Charlotte/Winston-Salem NC are hiring New Grads. Move fast! I am not a newbie, but have no hospital experience and I have been on about 5 interviews in the last 2 weeks. Will go on 2 more this Tuesday at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center. Good luck!

I feel your pain and frustration. I graduated in June, pased boards in July, had my ACLS in April and PALS in July hoping that would help

I did get hired to do flu clinics for 2 months and that has now ended. I started applying before I graduated, I have around 200-250 resumes out there.

The one hospital in my city that has a residency program only has 30 spots and last time there were over 700 people applying

I had a screening interview for the prision and they were interviewing 100 people for 1 spot.

I just had an interview today for a mental health phone adivce nurse, it is only 10 hours a week and she has 3 more people to interview so I have no idea.

I got an interview with a LTC and when she saw that I have worked in the ED, she told me that she dosn't think that I will stick around.

I have applied as far North as Alaska, still nothing

My friends who were able to get jobs in LTC are now getting interviews at hospitals becasue they have gotten 5 months experince,

very very frusterating
