New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand Part 2

World Registration

Published

Due to recent changes regarding applications for International nurses to Australia and the combining of the nursing boards to one central nursing board in Australia AHPRA I have started a new thread for people to discuss the new process on working in Australia.

Currently New Zealand is not accepting new applicants from International trained nurses except those that meet the Trans Tasman Mutual Recognition Agreement {TTMR} this will be updated once the New Zealand nursing board reopen their books to International nurses.

hi zdane! how did you apply for the visa? VIA Centre or pick up?

Actually it was my agent who lodged my visa so I have no idea which between the two.. :(

Hi! I got my Letter of Offer now! it was sent to my agent. I am for January 2013 intake.. yipee!!! :yeah:[/quoteHi I thought you said your eligibility letter will expire oct 27. Because mine will expire January 2013 and my case officer won't extend my eligibility letter if intake will be after the expiry date. So I'm taking the sept or October intake of etea. And I ask my case officer if it's alright if I finish my BP after expiry date. And answer is yes but not commence BP post expiry date. Just double check with your APHRA case officer to be xure before you pay for your tuition fee.

hi! yeap. that's my big problem now. i was given 7 days to settle the payment for etea.. but then i still need to know if AHPRA will grant an extension to my LOE. i'm kinda worried, because it was stated in the LOE that we need to complete the 3 months BP before the LOE expires.. my agent called AHPRA this morning and sent them an email as well requesting for an extension.. no replies yet.. he sent my letter of offer (hard copy) to AHPRA through courier.. he also called ETEA ang asked about my case.. i dont know what happens after this.. i hope everything will turn out just fine.. will keep my fingers crossed..

can someone clarify this for me please....

APHRA will assess the application then makes a comment/suggestion then they will send it to NMBA...the NMBA then will decide if your eligible for registration or eligible for registration with exception (i.e have to take the BRIDGING PROGRAM....am I right on this???

I was told that NMBA only have meetings once a month is this why it takes so long to process an application--- 2-3 mos.

because I received an e-mail from APHRA it says---- MY APPLICATION HAS BEEN ASSESS AND THEY WILL SEND IT TO NMBA ON AUGUST 16. THEY WILL HAVE A MEETING THAT DAY AND I WILL BE INFORMED OF THEIR DECISION TEN DAYS AFTER THE MEETING ---

is there anybody else here have the same experience...when I applied for registration in UK at the NMC I got my decision letter in a couple of months...why does it take so long in Australia...

I actually had the same experience but I was too persistent with my AHPRA case officer that I was able to have my LOE extended. It was supposed to expire on June 2012 but it was extended until November 2012.

Where did you lodge your papers? I lodged mine in Qld..

hi yourprincess,

Hello everyone, how much is the tuition fee for Mercy Health, Deakin, and AAON. Are william light institute and AAON Affiliated with University of Ballarat?

hello nurses! I just finished my IELTS and I want to pass my docs to AHPRA, meantime,I have some few questions:

1. those who have no hospital experience, can they apply for ahpra also?

2. those who have experience but decided to resign does Ahpra require you to be currently working in a hospital while your papers are being processed?

hope somebody can answer these...thank you!

For those who applied for their visa already, after how many days will a case officer email you to have your medicals already?

hi aila I have received an email to undergo medical examination the day after the confirmation of my application . . . :nurse:

Hi, ladydee-rn

I read in this forum that you were a student at UNISA for the ARNTP. Would you be so kind as to describe your experience and the outcome of it? I'm really interested in enrolling for the ARNTP and first hand feedback would be greatly appreciated. =)

HI LAMARISM I'm not yet done with the ARNTP. . I'm for October intake . . . I'm currently applying for my visa. . .But here is the experience of LEEROSS who have undergone the ARNTP last October . .

Hi. Im currently undertaking the ARNTP program here in UniSA south aus which started last october 5 and will be finishing febuary next year. Its an 18 wk program. So easy to get through for as long as u got the complete requriements which includes 2 years experience minimum. The university is conducting the program twice a year.

Sorry but i only have a little understanding with the iron and 0 idea with the rest. All i know is that they are all pathways in becoming a nurse here. ARNTP is divided into three subjects. 5 weeks for the professional issues in australia, which is about ethics, comptencies, standards indigenpus health in aus etc. We fjust fi ished it last week. This week until dec 18, we are studying med surge. And from dec 18- jan2, christmas break. Jan 3 - feb26 clinical placement and after that, if we pass, we are already eligible for registration. ARNTP is actually a recognized bridging program by AHPRA. We are currently 23 in class and majority are filipinos. For my tuition fee, i paid 14,200 dollars but i can say its really worth it because the equipment that we use in the labs are all sophisticated. The set up in the labs are also the same with that of the hospital setting. One more thing, the uni is not that fuzzy and strict when it comes to app, ication. Actually i have my classmates now who are not yet assessed by AHPRA but they were admitted by the uni. You just have to have 7 or higher ilets score and two years minimum experience.

LAMARISM Here is the link for the virtual tour of the campus and Unisa's facilities . . http://w3.unisa.edu.au/health/VirtualTours/index.html . .You can also find some testimonials there. . I hope these have help you . . .Good luck. .
