New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand Part 2

Published

Due to recent changes regarding applications for International nurses to Australia and the combining of the nursing boards to one central nursing board in Australia AHPRA I have started a new thread for people to discuss the new process on working in Australia.

Currently New Zealand is not accepting new applicants from International trained nurses except those that meet the Trans Tasman Mutual Recognition Agreement {TTMR} this will be updated once the New Zealand nursing board reopen their books to International nurses.

Part 1 thread New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand - Nursing for Nurses

I'm planning to build my credentials as well, and have at least a year of experience. Luckily, I just got hired and I'm starting with my first month (although I already had a month of training in that same hospital) I'll pray that you'll get a job soon!

Oh yeah, are you planning to get an agency? Because I found one online and it really seems promising. I even stalked one of those who availed of their services and she said that it was really worth it (and she only has 3 months volunteer experience and she's now working)

Checked all the possible schools for BP.. Even WLI is full. Guess will have to wait for January intake.. :)

Specializes in ER/ Radiology Nurse.

did you check Mercy Health?

I just got my new ielts result since my previous one expired last march and I got 6.5 in reading...

The embassy is already asking for the result as I am already in the process of doing the medicals.

I am already enrolled at IHNA and is due to take the BP this august..

WHAT WILL I DO?!?! can I send the embassy the ielts result with the 6.5 and tell them that I will repeat the IELTS ASAP so that I can proceed with the visa processing?

INHA is also asking for my visa updates.. :(

HELP!!

Will the embassy grant me a 456 visa with my 6.5 reading result? my band score is 7.5 though..

can I still submit it to the embassy?

did you check Mercy Health?

hi. yes but they require 3 years of xp. I only have 2 years and 4 months.

Hi fellow nurses!Anybody here trying or had already applied to La Trobe via ISIS?I can't seen to find the IRON Program on offered courses.HELP!

That's my problem too. I've been trying to figure out how to apply online for days already but no success. I think they have a problem with it.

Keep me updated Shaneyney. Thanks for your time and good luck!

thank you lord. such a blessing today. i still got in october intake for ihna. anyone here on the same boat?

info regarding perth, western australia

conclusion.

as far as i can see ecu is a very attractive option for you pinoy nursing graduates wanting to become rn in western australia via a conversion course, unless you have recently won the lotto. if you only have an ielts of 6.5 you have still the opportunity to improve to 7 (to satisfy ahpra) during your stay here. apply to ahpra after getting your ielts 7, and 2-3 months before graduating, because ahpra are not quick with their processing. bring all your necessary documents (copies certified by a notary public) with you. see the checklist on the ahpra application form- its huge !

if you want to go via a bridging course then inha is currently the only option. however, you will need a minimum ielts of 7 and at least 1 years work experience, to satisfy ahpra (and inha upon subsequent application). you will first need to apply to ahpra in order to get the rbp letter of approval which is required to enrol with inha.

check the requirements with the parties concerned. keep in mind that some of the people you contact will unknowingly give you the incorrect information, be prepared to double check if in any doubt. i have found that even some of the information on the websites has been incorrect requiring verification by phone. what i have stated here is correct at this time of writing, june 2012, to the best of my knowledge.

the matter of obtaining a student visa is a separate issue - allow for 3-5 months to get this even if you have been accepted for a course.

hope this is of some help to someone. good luck.

thank you sooo much for sharing. you've made it easier for me to understand. i have been constantly looking for schools that would offer programs for nurses without any paid experience, and indeed financial matters is a great factor to consider. i am now considering ecu.

i found the schools that you have mentioned in this site : (under general registration) nursing and midwifery board of australia - approved programs of study

however, the validity on the rn conversion program for ecu is oct.2011(transition july2012). does it mean that program is offered until next month?

i was hoping to find schools in queensland or victoria since i'm planning to live with my relatives but i have seen that the rn conversion programs are only offered in western australia.

are there other programs/courses that i could look into? i'm also considering the course for enrolled nurses, since the tuition fees is lesser. what do you suggest?

hey ceridwyn! i have been working for 2 years and 5 months. didn't expect this. i emailed my case officer to clarify about what he meant, and he said, i do not need to take up the bridging course. that really is a big relief for me and my family. :)

thank you @ceridwyn and @prettyprettywaw :)

may i know the country where you worked?

yes,it was not the typical email about the bridging program. asked my case officer what he meant by it and he said, i do not need to take up the bridging course anymore. yahoo! never thought about that option. anyway, i waited for exactly a year :( cried and stressed a lot while waiting, haha! passed mine in NSW. Goodluck to you @DreamMeansWork, we really do need to work hard to fulfill all our dreams.

Cheers!!! keep in touch!

Yes it really takes a lot of patience and faith!! All the hard works will pay off in time :)

Are you from philippines? Where did you get your 2 years experience??

Even though you waited for a year, the best thing is you dont need to take BP!! :) yahooo!! Hhehe :)

Hello :) yes i just graduated last year and passed the NLE last december :) i have ZERO experience to mention.. Hihi.. Im working on my ielts now, will sit the exam next month!! :)

Hi DreamMeansWork, are you eligible to take the BP even if you have no experience? I tried approaching different agencies and they told me that my volunteer experience would not count since it is not paid. I am considering taking the RN conversion program but t'would seem that only very few schools are offering it. If there are schools that offer BP for us nurses without experience, I'd be much thankful if you could help me out. I've opted to do it on my own, rather than spending Php70-80k for the agency.
