Due to recent changes regarding applications for International nurses to Australia and the combining of the nursing boards to one central nursing board in Australia AHPRA I have started a new thread for people to discuss the new process on working in Australia.
Currently New Zealand is not accepting new applicants from International trained nurses except those that meet the Trans Tasman Mutual Recognition Agreement {TTMR} this will be updated once the New Zealand nursing board reopen their books to International nurses.

hey ilove83030! I checked with diac's site and there are no recent changes:-if you require a visa label affixed to your passport, you must include your passport for processing. However, if you are being evidenced at an alternate immigration overseas mission or you are able to travel label free, please include a ‘certified true’ copy of your passport biodata and visaed pages with this application. The passport must be valid for at least the duration of your intended visit to Australia;
-your passport or copy of relevant pages as necessary;
have you submitted yours already? have you started with the e-course? i will probably do mine all within this week though i know the latter will take daysssss to accomplish everything. how's the e-course like?
you're for the august intake in perth, right? :)
hiya Cummulus thanks ..:) i started but not much yet cos im working on some large documentation projects and making fund raising activities to pay for my immunizations, visa processing fees and stuffs to buy. hehehe :) but i could describe it as having 3 units, each unit containing different chapters with exercises for every chapters. its like a library of some of the important concepts linked to nursing in Australia.
ill try to do the 456 soon. :)
Hi guys!!I just want to ask cause Im an RN since july 2010 but with only 3months trainee experience in a Specialty hospital, and ever since I've been wanting to work in Australia, and before an agency told me that atleast I need a 1 year experience to qualify for bridging program instead she advised me to train there for years, i think what shes offering to me is that I study and work there, I mean is this even a good choice?
And even If i had only 3months hospital experience, will I be able to pass the Bridging program?cuz its damn so expensive!!
I mean Which one is better the BP or the long years? What's the best place in australia to take BP? In terms of passing rate, and high possibility of employment.
And also, anyone here from PHILMAN, i heard theres no cash out? I mean after BP all of their clients landed a job there?
Another thing,What if I choose to take the long course which is years for you to be an AU RN, and someone wants to offer me a working visa, is this possible?? Im not really choosy when it comes to work so i can work in a nursing home but I do have scoliosis and maybe they won't hire because they may think im not fit to work..
I hope you cn answer my queries, cause this all new to me and I really want to work as a nurse in australia!
Goodbless to all the nurses!!!:))))
i heard the same. anyone here who is with philman? tnx

goodluck to your endeavor, dear :) we all need to play it smart due to the fees that we need to pay :) hey, per unit, about how many chapters does a unit contain? are they quite straightforward? easy? manageable?
do your 456 the soonest :) i should tell that to myself as well hahaha :) tc!

Hello. I answered YES to both questions :)
guys, for those who did their medicals, do we really need to answer the form in front of the MD or on the day of the medicals? also, are the rates of St Lukes and the Nationwide Health just the same? :) thanks!
Hi cummulus. I did my medicals in Nationwide, a friend of mine did hers at St. Luke's. Rates are the same. Forms were not necessarily answered in front of the doctor :)

thanks noelle =) did it cost you roughly 6k? when are you leaving? :)
oh btw, do you happen to know if in the form 456, the mode of payment should be in manager's cheque right however, there is no option for that, there is only for bank cheque and money order. which is which? thanks thanks :)
did you get a multiple entry?
goodluck dearie :)

A manager's cheque is the same as a bank cheque ie different names used for the same thing.

THANKS for your Good Wishes They are very much Welcome :) wink wink wink! I just tried checking it for your information now.. wait..i think they are straightforward but I don't know if manageable cos I still have to juggle the time between work & visa application, and hopefully elearning very soon. I only did 3 projects for my online jobs this morning and I have about 20 projects waiting..hehe :) my partners need help to finish their databases..:) I have to be happy and active instead of feeling the opposite for still having to save for my visa costs etc. so im trying to as much as possible do some productive things.
ok here they are I just copied the titles directly from the site:
Unit 1 Professional Issues in Clinical Practice have 7 Subtopics/Chapters
Unit 2 Comprehensive Assessments have 8 Subtopics/Chapters
Unit 3 Evidence Based Nursing Care have 8 Subtopics/Chapters and 1 Competency Based Assessment
Other Stuffs are our Additional Resources just in case we want to know more than what is required:
Library, Nursing Videos and Pronunciation Guides.
By the way im not very informed yet about the visa application im trying to read about it and how to fill it up..
Should I put 1 week/3 days before start and end of class for the duration?
did you just print a colored copy of the COE and Invoice or did you have a Public Notary Certified True Copy them?

good for you, ilove83030! at least you feel responsible in shouldering some manageable fees. this is the very same reason why i'm not resigning yet either since the scant money i'll be getting every 15th and 30th can help me in financing my visa app fee, medicals, etc. cheers to hardworking peeps :)
i don't know how to answer that portion either. help! anyone who has any idea what is the most appropriate duration to indicate in the 456 form? should the duration be strictly 3 months only i.e. aug 4 to nov 4? class in melbourne starts on aug6.
hey, till when is your deadline for getting a hold of the visa? we were given until july 10! waaahhh! i really have to literally move my ass now but i have been working hard and hopefully within this week, will be able to send my visa for processing. kit! =D
