New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand Part 2

Published

Due to recent changes regarding applications for International nurses to Australia and the combining of the nursing boards to one central nursing board in Australia AHPRA I have started a new thread for people to discuss the new process on working in Australia.

Currently New Zealand is not accepting new applicants from International trained nurses except those that meet the Trans Tasman Mutual Recognition Agreement {TTMR} this will be updated once the New Zealand nursing board reopen their books to International nurses.

Part 1 thread New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand - Nursing for Nurses

And how do we find a job that will sponsor us? Online? What website?

You may find that seek.com.au can be of some value to you. Or try Google and then point to your desired state/city then type hospital or nursing home and then hover your mouse to see if that facility has got a website that you can visit and apply to. :specs:

Every day these bridging programs receive many applications from international nurses from Phillipines, India and other countries that require bridging program.

You are suggesting a place should be waiting for all that have AHPRA letters for a bridging program? and in the bridging school course everyone prefers?

I would hope they would not charge your credit card until they are sure they have a course open to you and can give a date. They are a reputable organisation. You may need to really consider the cost and begin applying to another program and soon.

Applicants are going to find the same problem in Australia as in New Zealand.

The problem is our house is near CON and we cant afford to pay the TF of other schools in sydney. I'm stuck :(

oh..is it that hard to find a job after the bridging course?my parents are discouraging me and i feel so left out..i am so stressed

It may not be like a 'walk in the park,' and there's a spectrum of outcomes from job searching, as some were able to be sponsored by the facility they had their clinical placement in, others had to go home for a fair while and continued job searching online. Athough the latter can be a bit dismal, it is not impossible that you can find a job. ;)

I think the bottom line here is do not be picky when it comes to work. As long as it's a nursing job and you will be sponsored and well compensated, that's good enough. I have friends who recently finished their BP, right after registration they received employment offers but more from nursing homes which for me is fine. Let's keep the faith although I'm really disappointed with CON.

Hi,

Just wondering how did you go with your interview in IHNA? I received an email today informing me for an interview tomorrow at 1:30-4:00, telling me to prepare especially for med-surg... Now I am panicking such a short noticed... It's been ages since I worked as a nurse.

Sorry, got home late. Just don't panic. I was asked about my profession. They what is meningitis and BLS. About 5 minutes interview. The interviewer is very kind and understanding.
