Due to recent changes regarding applications for International nurses to Australia and the combining of the nursing boards to one central nursing board in Australia AHPRA I have started a new thread for people to discuss the new process on working in Australia.
Currently New Zealand is not accepting new applicants from International trained nurses except those that meet the Trans Tasman Mutual Recognition Agreement {TTMR} this will be updated once the New Zealand nursing board reopen their books to International nurses.

hi star 17. i can see you applied through philman. i am planning to apply though them too but they emailed me there are updates and my 2 years work experience should at least 1 year ago.. is this really true? i thought the only requirement in aphra registration is that the experience must be within the preceding 5 years. did they tell you this also? i hope you can share with me your experience.. i want to partner with them because i have no idea in the AU registration process and the company was recommended by my friend.. plssss help
hi shiey! i'm not really sure about that..i have 1 year and 6 months hospital gap prior to my application..i also have only 1.2 years of experience..i guess the important thing is that you must have atleast 1 year of hospital experience..i also do not know about the process so i decided to join philman..my application was confirmed by aphra wa 1st week of feb..until now, i'm waiting for my LOA..but i think they are now passing the applications to aphra vic..i guess it would be best to ask them to clear up things..God bless!=)
hi. I also have the same issue on finances, so I signed up with Philman, took the ielts, submitted all the forms and received yesterday AHPRA's confirmation receipt of my documents. For those preparing their docs, you may PM me how it was done although Philman staff helped me all the way in preparing them and got a lot of help from topics relevant here.
hi tokiya! when did you submit your docs to philman? i want to apply through them too because im bank-broke..hehe!
which state of AU did you apply?

thanks star17 for your prompt reply. yes, i relied to their email confirming about that required 1-year gap from experience to application. it just doesn't make sense! hahaha! anyway, they haven't replied yet..it's a weekend so i guess i'll expect their answer by monday. ;D
keep the thread posted of your application progress okay?
if ever philman will stick with their 1 yr rule then i guess i will have to apply to aphra by myself... ;(

I have just looked over the latest application form for international applicants.
Looks like AHPRA are now clamping down on applicants with long breaks between finish of education and applying to Australia.
Applicants must explain on CV a break of even 3 months and explain this.
Applicants must show that they complete the 20 hours of continuous professional development for the years they have been registered heres the link for professional development and go to pdf file - this form with these conditions is dated 12 March.
As for this agency, they are now asking for nurses with 2 years experience. There are no AHPRA rules to have 1 year, 2 year breaks! this is not good, loose skills.
However if nurses have these long breaks or have little experience, you can see this lessens their chances of getting a job and them their money.
I also have checked out the NSW hospitals that were actively recruiting anybody that was qualified and they are now requesting 2 years experience preferably from nurses with experience from english speaking countries.
Anything to do with nursing counts, as long as the work involved was as a Registered Nurse and you were Registered at the time you are claiming to work as far as AHPRA is concerned.
Employers however in Australia may not take private nursing into account, as private nursing is usually what rich people get at home after their hospital experience or for rich ageing relatives and really does not involve using RN skills at all....this is why that agency does not consider private nursing as part of their 2 year experience, they want 2 year hospital experience.
Hi fellow nurses and thread administrators!
I would like to ask for help from you. Would you happen to know the documents needed to be submitted to the australian embassy for visa 456 application and if these documents should be CTC or original.
Please help me out. Thank you so much in advance! :)
