Due to recent changes regarding applications for International nurses to Australia and the combining of the nursing boards to one central nursing board in Australia AHPRA I have started a new thread for people to discuss the new process on working in Australia.
Currently New Zealand is not accepting new applicants from International trained nurses except those that meet the Trans Tasman Mutual Recognition Agreement {TTMR} this will be updated once the New Zealand nursing board reopen their books to International nurses.

can you give suggestions on which school to take that is not too hard to pass and suggest some place to stay.. my email is [email protected] thank you very much. i am somehow on a budget.
Have you tried contacting private hospitals and nursing homes? Unfortunately, your dilemma is not unique. You will probably have to spend more if you want to stay in Australia ie enrol in some sort of course and apply for another student visa (not sure what type of visa). Thank you for sharing your experience. Hope the readers here will take it in.hi guys, any suggestions with my dillema?, got my registration this feb, still looking forwork and sponsorship till now, any tips?, agencies won't accept me because i justhave 6 months volunteer experience back home, I'm on a multi entry 456, and my90 day would expire by end of june, my 456 would expire in august, been applying online for 2 months everydayto anything that would suit my qualifications, still nothing, if my 90 days isup, and i don't land a job, do you know what other option i could take?TIA
you're welcome! :)hep b, hep c, cxr, physical exam, urinalysis :)
no fasting needed :)
thank you
glitzdelight! :thankya:
i hope things will also be fine with my application. for what school are you?
Schools here would have similar standards. I don't think you'll find anyone in this thread who can compare schools unless somebody fails their BP and retakes it again in another school (would normally take it in the same school-cheaper, familiarity). If you have the option of choosing which state in Australia to go to, you should check the job market in each state. I don't know how much your budget is but make sure you include the fact that you might not get work after you are registered.can you give suggestions on which school to take that is not too hard to pass and suggest some place to stay.. my email is [email protected] thank you very much. i am somehow on a budget.
It will depend on things like what experience you have, where you are during your BP and your attitude. If you have a lot of experience and the facility you'll be doing your BP is willing to sponsor overseas nurses then all you have to do is show them how good a nurse you are - like Joiemike. If you don't have experience, I suggest while waiting for your LOE, try and get some (easier said than done). Even before you arrive in Australia, look for jobs as Carer or Assistant in Nursing. You should be able to work for 20 hours a week. Look for employers that can sponsor you after your BP. Don't wait until you finish your BP and get your registration before looking for sponsorship for work. You should visit www.careerone.com.au for job vacancies. Not sure about sending applications to agencies here. There was a time they could sponsor but I don't think they do that anymore.
Thanks for replying bobby, i do have 4 years experience in medical surgical area and now currently in the Delivery Room-Nicu department. The thing is w/ ACFE's schedule i dont have enough time to get an employer so I think my question should be 'is it fine to send applications even during BP and just indicate that your license is still pending? ' Im applying for a 456 visa so Im worried about the time frame in which i am allowed to stay in Aus. Would it be possible to extend your stay if you have multiply entries?or should one go home first in Phil then fly back to Aus?
Hi chabeli! I am for the May intake of La Trobe Bendigo. I was so happy to see your post! Are you also for this intake? I do not have a place to stay yet in the Bendigo area though I reserved a room, just for my arrival on the 24th of May. My friend who's offering me a place lives in Melbourne and its like a 2 hours ride I guess from there. Do you have any suggestions? Hope to hear from you soon!
Hi doydoy! I would just like to ask what are the vaccination requirements of La Trobe- Bendigo since you are for May intake. Are you from Phils particularly in Visayas?
Thanks for your time. ;-)
