Due to recent changes regarding applications for International nurses to Australia and the combining of the nursing boards to one central nursing board in Australia AHPRA I have started a new thread for people to discuss the new process on working in Australia.
Currently New Zealand is not accepting new applicants from International trained nurses except those that meet the Trans Tasman Mutual Recognition Agreement {TTMR} this will be updated once the New Zealand nursing board reopen their books to International nurses.

Part 1 thread New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand - Nursing for Nurses
Hello to everyone!! I'm new here.. :) I have questions regarding sa Application to AHPRA.
1. I am about to take my 18Weeks Bridging course in UNISA in Adelaide that will commence in April. What I have is a Student visa. What I fear is when I finish my bridging course and my visa will expire and still I don't have an employer. What can I do to avoid this? Can I apply to AHPRA directly while I am still here in the Philippines so that the assessment of my application is going on while I am having the BP or should I wait until I finish my Bridging course before I apply?
2. I read the Application Form AGOS-04. I am quite confused with the information I need to provide. And with the Format of CV. I saw the specific format. Can you give me an example CV where I could pattern mine??
3. Is there anyone here who stayed in Bradford Lodge in Adelaide? Is the place alright? How far is it from City east campus of UNISA??
I need your help guys.. Thank you talaga.. Thank you so much:heartbeat:heartbeat:heartbeat
doesnt the bridging course qualify you to have a license? why would you need to apply for AGOS-4?
hi ojos asi!! thanks for the reply.. I am really not knowledgeable with the steps I need to take to become an AU RN.. Can you help me with this.. Soon after as I finish my BP, what is my next step?? To what agency or department should I apply for my registration?
:)Thank you so much
i wish cioman94 was here. he would probably direct you to the first few pages of this thread which he painstakingly wrote for those who wish to apply in australia as a nurse. please take the time to read back on this thread and maybe you will be enlightened.
i am not knowledgeable either... all i know is that you first apply to ahpra, wait for your assessment then you can apply for your bp and finally get your visa.
i was baffled by the sequence of your statements… i am not sure what program you are intending to take… but you seem to already have a visa, a place to stay and a school to attend even before you are approved by aprah …. i’m also at a loss… maybe someone who is well versed with your program in adelaide can help you j
Hi nesciree,
I have to agree with ojos_asi...
I believe cioman has summarized and re-emphasized most, if not all, of the topics that had been discoursed about how to become an AUS RN in this thread and the previous one . When i read your case, i think it is a BNP that youre taking. . . I hope I could help you with this but my background knowledge about that is limited. Pls. take some time to read the first pages and youll get enlightened. . .
congratulations for the job,cioman!
you deserve all the happiness and success in this world! good luck in your 1st job as a au rn:heartbeat
thank you for everything and for being so kind with everyone in this thread:)
i hope u can keep in touch with us and keep us updated with the oz reality.
god bless ur path!
The University of South Australia's Australian Registered Nurse Training Program (ARNTP) is a non-award professional certificate for registered nurses who already hold a diploma or degree in nursing.
This program prepares overseas qualified registered nurses with the knowledge, skills and attitudes to enable them to meet the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia's competency standards to register and practice as a registered nurse in the Australian healthcare system.
Students who successfully complete the ARNTP will be eligible to apply for registration as a registered nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia under the new national registration and accreditation scheme.
Entry requirements apply, but eligibility letter from ahpra is not one of the requirements.
http://www.unisa.edu.au/nur/what_we_do/pdf/ARNTP_flyer.pdf
Therefore, you will have to submit your application to ahpra when you already finish the arntp, not earlier, otherwise, ahpra will assess your application and will issue an eligibility letter to take the BP. If you apply after you finished the arntp, you will be issued a license. As to the time frame of license issuance, it is anybody's guess.
As for the format of the cv, please take time to review the part 1 of this thread and start around page 600.
Good luck to you and congrats for being accepted at unisa.

Hi nesciree!!! i would just like to ask when did you applied for the registration?? i mean did you applied directly to AHPRA or were your papers submitted before the AHPRA office commenced??? were you the one who choose UNISA or did AHPRA suggested it to you??? These all I ask because I'm still waiting for my application which i sent last March 2010 and until I didnt get results yet... I applied for the Queensland Nursing council before so I was wondering if we are allowed to choose states where we will conduct our BP because my family are bound to Adelaide this january and I dont know if i am allowed to take up my BP there just in case they will approve my application....
Thank you very much!
Whoa there... So we can take this UniSA route even without an AHPRA letter?Anybody here who successfully went through this option?
In my own opinion, we cannot enroll in any university all over aussie if we dont receive the letter from ahpra as this is the main requirement in taking up BP... so unfortunately, we need to wait before we move... =)
