Due to recent changes regarding applications for International nurses to Australia and the combining of the nursing boards to one central nursing board in Australia AHPRA I have started a new thread for people to discuss the new process on working in Australia.
Currently New Zealand is not accepting new applicants from International trained nurses except those that meet the Trans Tasman Mutual Recognition Agreement {TTMR} this will be updated once the New Zealand nursing board reopen their books to International nurses.

General skilled migration is different from long stay business visa subclass 457. When applying for a subclass 457, you will need the ahpra license, police certificate/ clearance, passport, an approved business sponsor, health cover, medicals, and proof of english proficiency( ielts or OET).
Better send a scanned copy of the original results for the english exam to avoid hassles, although in my opinion, you can argue and convince the case officer that you don't have to send the ielts since you already have the ahpra license and that without the ielts, you will not be granted the license in the first place.
Try to talk to your case officer ( DIAC) for any concerns; you will be surprised that they are really so very reasonable.

Thank you very much for clarifying this!! :)
hi everyone! today, i received a letter from ahpra dated nov 4 informing me of my outstanding requirements: verification from brn, california (although, i clearly stated in my cv that although i passed nclex, i do not hold a cali license yet... which means i am not registered) and my ielts (which i sent way back). it is just so frustrating when u have to send documents again when you know that you have done so to begin with. i sent my application first week of august, so that makes my waiting time a little over 3 months.
mikyong, salmonella, sweeth tooth...any news yet? :)
whoaaa liaa! glad you get online. I was supposed to ask your status...
my heart just skipped a beat after reading your post.
aside from their response to my inquiry before, that they already received my application, theres no notice from them in letter forms that i received. . .
does your letter tells you if you already have a case manager to contact with regards to your status? :)
and im confused with the verification form from brn, cali, how did you get one if u were not yet registered? or did they just consider the 'letter' informing that you passed NCLEX as somewhat like 'verification' thing perhaps? coz thats what i submitted to them. . .
and i know, it is no easy feat to wait under anxious conditions, right? at least you were already informed. i hope i'll receive the same notice too.. :)

yup, i already have a case manager and i plan on calling her tom to ask if it is still necessary to provide the verification from california since i am not yet registered anyway (just an nclex passer). i sent a certified copy of my nclex letter too. i hope they would not want a verification of passing the nclex bec that would cost us 60 usd. im sure your reply is also on its way :)
Someone pm'd me but i deleted the msg by accident. Money matters is an issue at the moment. So when did you apply for your visa? how long does it normally take for 456 to be out ? so you be Etea this Jan? Do you know any of your classmates na?
Hi ojos asi! I applied just last Friday. Today, I received an acknowledgment email from the Embassy. It stated in the letter that it will take 5-7 working days. I know 2 people that will be attending the course in Etea this January.
Sandy05, I am sorry but I still can't send pms yet. If its alright with you, just send me your YM so I can add you up. I applied for 456 visa by the way.
question: is this (application + bridging course +visa processing + everything) fairly easy to do by myself, or should i hire an agency? it will cost 45k pesos for their service alone.
i think many of those who have applied for australia did it by themselves. based on their posts it was not “fairly easy” it was nerve wracking and confusing. however, you can save your money and you can learn how to do it yourself. basically the information you will provide in the application form would still come from you. if you need student visa assistance and school placement you can approach idp and they can do it for you for free. if you need to learn how to answer the forms….. so many pages of in depth discussion has already been devoted to this subject alone. i doubt if they have left any stone unturned in their deliberations. just reading the thread will help you understand how to go about it. it is inevitable that you might encounter things that can be difficult for you to comprehend but i think people in this thread who have done the same procedure would be more than willing to help you like what they have been doing for everyone who seeks their help.
just my two cents. good luck!

When you apply for VISA 457 once you have a sponsor, do you still need to stubmit youe ielts result? According to ANMC, "As of 1 July 2009, in accordance with ANMC Policy the requirement is that ALL internationally-qualified nurses and midwives applying to the ANMC under the general skilled migration scheme will be required to provide proof of English language proficiency. Please note that nurses and midwives who hold current registration with an Australian Nursing and Midwifery Regulatory Authority are not required to sumbit English language test results.
Does this mean that after you are registered in AHPRA, you no longer need ielts for the working visa?
