New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand Part 2

Published

Due to recent changes regarding applications for International nurses to Australia and the combining of the nursing boards to one central nursing board in Australia AHPRA I have started a new thread for people to discuss the new process on working in Australia.

Currently New Zealand is not accepting new applicants from International trained nurses except those that meet the Trans Tasman Mutual Recognition Agreement {TTMR} this will be updated once the New Zealand nursing board reopen their books to International nurses.

Part 1 thread New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand - Nursing for Nurses

Ey-em... may I ask if you already had a flight for Australia? May I ask what airline you use? I was looking for the cheapest but I read in the older post you can have connecting flights (via kuala lumpur) to make your flight cheaper... but it sounds complicated...

If you are after 'the cheapest' flight, you will find that having connecting flights would be the cheaper option than flying direct (if there is one where you are going). It's not complicated at all. Consider having connecting flights opens opportunities to practice your English skills. On your initial check in, the airport personnel will tell you exactly where to go and there's always plenty of information counters to get information wherever airport in the world you go.

Try to look for low season airfares (depends where in Australia you are going to).

NB: Direct flights; If going to Sydney from Manila, there is PAL and Qantas that I'm aware of; tried both of them. Wouldn't fly PAL again, very outdated. Staff are nice enough but you have to bring your own entertainment.

this is my visa support letter from con: the letter like ey - em posted is the same letter i received after i was not selected for jan. intake.

thank you for your application for assessment of competence program no. 120 which commences on january 30, 2012 and completes on march 23, 2012. a position for you in this program is contingent upon you furnishing the college of nursing with an appropriate visa 3 weeks prior to the scheduled commencement date. the visa must be valid for the entirety of the program.

if we do not receive your visa by 9 jan 2012 you will be placed onto the waiting list for the next available program.

about visa:

1. period that will cover your intake: 3 mos: example: my intake would be jan 30. but i want to be in asutralia by jan 25. so i will put jan 25 to april 25. (3 mos)

2. i did not gave a statutory declaration. i just answered all the questions, then submitted the paper works that is needed: here is the sample checklist of my application:

document checklist

1. visa 456 application form

2. visa application payment (managers cheque)

2. original and photocopy of passport

3. certified copy of official receipt of medical screen

4. certified copy of letter of offer from college of nursing

5. certified copy of proof of full payment for tuition fee

6. certified copy of ahpra letter of eligibility

7. certified copy of ielts test report

8. certified copy of bank certificate

9. letter of support with passport copy and certified copy of summary of payment

10. certified copy of certificate of employment

11. original nbi clearance and certified copy of no deragatory record from saudi

the letter of support is from my brother, aside from my bank statement (120k only). im not sure what to write about employemtn details, u should ask the experts on this eheheh. hope this helps: good luck!!

about the letter of support? is this a requirement? or my bank statement would be enough? :)

got your LOE already? thats nice.. PAL and AIR ASIA

No, I haven't.. but I'm thinking ahead so that I don't have to panic when the time comes...:)

Anybody here for intake on April 4, 2012 at AAON? Message me and I hope tol see u here in Melbourne soon.

I think the bank statement would be enough, I just gave the letter of support because my money in the bank is not sufficient for a show money (120k only). But if you have the sufficient amount then i think no need for support, but in my opinion, it's a plus factor too.

One of the forumers, who is now taking the intake in Con told me I don't need it, its not that necessary lol. Maybe I'll just be getting it in aus when the school will ask for it. you're right. (sayang) if were not be able to use it.

I don't think (and hope) that CON is requiring it. LOL!

did you booked a round trip ticket?

Yes I did. Book with PAL so that were on the same flight! lol!

If applying for a student visa, the duration of your visa would depend on the duration of your study. So if your course is let's say for 2 months, your visa might probably be for 3-4 months only (the extra 1-2 months I think is a grace period if you are planning to renew your visa). If unfortunately you weren't able to land a job within the 1-2 months after completing your course, you have 2 options:

a. go back home and then apply for another visa (probably tourist visa) to be able to enter Australia again.

b. apply for a different kind of visa while you are still in Australia. I'm not sure if it's possible to get a tourist visa while you are in Australia. But I'm sure getting another student visa is out of the question because it's too freakin' expensive to study in Oz.

456 visa for me is the better option because you are allowed to have multiple entry within the span of 1 year. This means you could go back to Australia in case you need to. You have a maximum stay of 3 months for every entry you make. Plus, the fee for 456 visa is way cheaper than the student visa.

If you have enough money in a bank account in your name, an affidavit/letter of support is not necessary. But if your parents or say relatives will be the one supporting you (the account is in their name), you need the affidavit of support.

My first choice is PAL. You could get cheaper flights from other asian airlines (Malaysian, China, etc.) but I hate lay overs! Oh no wait, I LOATHE them! So I suggest go with PAL. Lol!

Ok thanks...it seems that PAL is more expensive, Jetstar is cheaper...but I'll think about it...

Thanks for the info... Actually, my concern for connecting flights (especially if the tickets are bought from 2 different airlines), will they ask for a visiting visa, even if I'm only staying at the airport?

I checked the kuala lumpur embassy and I saw that Filipino citizen need visiting visa to get to malaysia... So I'm hesitant to get a connecting flight from philippines to sydney via kuala lumpur (getting it from 2 different airlines)...
