Due to recent changes regarding applications for International nurses to Australia and the combining of the nursing boards to one central nursing board in Australia AHPRA I have started a new thread for people to discuss the new process on working in Australia.
Currently New Zealand is not accepting new applicants from International trained nurses except those that meet the Trans Tasman Mutual Recognition Agreement {TTMR} this will be updated once the New Zealand nursing board reopen their books to International nurses.

i was browsing through the posts when i stumbled upon yours. :) you mentioned that you're a PR now in Oz? i was just wondering how you applied for it... i'm a little interested in applying for a PR visa. hehe...
and isn't it that if you hold a PR visa, it's easier to get a job as an RN? or is it really the protocol to apply with AHPRA prior to becoming an RN? any info would be greatly appreciated. thanks! :)
I know... That's why as to not be disappointed too much, I'm setting my mind that LOE will be in 6 months (May 2012 for me) and I have a month to comply the visa requirements. Hopefully I can finally be in Australia by July for the CON intake...fingers crossed...Although, July is FOUR looooonnnggg months from now!
And it's tiring to think about it...so I'll just stop thinking and start praying....(sigh)
Im also gunning for those months coz by that time I will have enough money to pay my school. I want to leave my job. so discriminating and bored. school is expensive.but im planning on doing bp in WA if given the chance.
@ladydee-rnMy friends application is more than 6 months now. Exactly i would have done the same thing. I just thought that being in WA, it is just rightful that I apply here. all my things were WA. visa, exp, license, certifications, etc. and it will be easy to follow up. before i applied they said i would be priority, but then again. they put me on queue with other overseas applicants. #shame
By the way a friend of mine under philman applied hers last sept.9 and she havent got her LOE yet. she was emailed last dec 28 that her papers is for final approval but until now, she havent received it. does this mean we also need to wait that long i mean more than 3 months now since that email and she havent got it yet.. #patiencerunningout #beenlong
She'll probably received here LOE anytime this month... It has only been 6 months and 4 days to be exact... Let's give AHPRA a few more days or 2 weeks at most (considering the holidays)... Please update us if your friend gets her LOE... She might receive her LOE on or before March 23...

If you don't mind me asking, What exactly do you do there as work? Why did you say it was discriminating?

I was just a winner of a genetic lottery. My parents was here they sponsored me here. Its easier in a manner that you wont need to be sponsored for the job. yes, it is. i did try to apply for RN jobs here. but they were always asking for AHPRA license. though i admit sometimes in my current job a breach this.

thanks for the quick response! :) genetic lottery? haha! good for you. :)
so i'm guessing we can't skip AHPRA either way... oh well. patience is indeed a virtue. :)

as an carer(AIN), discriminating meaning they are hugging all the over times and they will make you do their jobs knowing you know how to it. no offence to anyone. if you go against them they will make you do a lot more.
