New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand Part 2

World Registration

Published

Due to recent changes regarding applications for International nurses to Australia and the combining of the nursing boards to one central nursing board in Australia AHPRA I have started a new thread for people to discuss the new process on working in Australia.

Currently New Zealand is not accepting new applicants from International trained nurses except those that meet the Trans Tasman Mutual Recognition Agreement {TTMR} this will be updated once the New Zealand nursing board reopen their books to International nurses.

Part 1 thread New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand - Nursing for Nurses

I have read your previous post and I saw that you're already a permanent resident there is Australia

and you are also a registered midwife. May I just ask if you filed your application while already in Australia or you're just like us whose application came from the Philippines? Because if you filed when you're already in Australia, then maybe that's why the are still unsure if there's a need for you to do a bridging course (I'm just making a speculation). Also, maybe that's why your letter is different from ours...

@g3stalt

yes I am an Aussie PR. i did get my qualification(RN,RM,SPED) in the Philippines though. I filed my application after I gathered all the necessary documents. because to be true I dont know what needs to be done until I got here and gave AHPRA office a visit. thats only the time i know. anyways. GOt my IELTS here aswell coz before they dont require me but when i asked in october they required me. back in july they dont. i filed directly at their WA office. and on the same moment they emailed me with the receipt of document. It irritates me coz course outline isnt on their checklist. i needed to get home to the Philippines again just for that(can you believe it?) coz i dont have anyone to ask. my current employment is more that willing to hire me when I got that registration however. if i needed a BP then the time frame of 2 months wont suffice. i reckon i would still need a Bp though somehow im familiar with their system already.

its not hard to be an RM in the Philippines. If your a DR nurse you can apply to it. =) added qualification. #share

plus my parents wants to me save my own tuition fee, coz its definitely not cheap. and if i worked in their I wont be able to save that amount of money. even with my jobs now.. its hard to raise more than half a million php.

hi im new in this site could someone help me or advice what i should do. Me and my friends we're trying to apply for Australia. We went to 2 agency/consultancy already

the 1st one they said we need to under go bridging program which for 3months then an ielts of all 7 and after this we already have an employer the sad part is i can't apply coz i already have 1year gap from work but i already have 2yrs experience. she said APHRA wont accept my application i should be currently working, is it true that when you apply you should be currently employed?

the 2nd consultancy said we can go to australia with out IELTS but we will enroll for a Certificate III in ESL for 8months then we can also for Aged Care Certificate. then there's also Certificate IV in ESL with IELTS of 5.5 where you can go to bridging after.

Do i need to go for consultancy or go on my own but how? Do you have to apply first to a college or university to get the Offer Letter or Confirmation of Enrollment before applying for student visa? or you should apply to APHRA?

Please PM me im really confused with this please please... thank you

By the way a friend of mine under philman applied hers last sept.9 and she havent got her LOE yet. she was emailed last dec 28 that her papers is for final approval but until now, she havent received it. does this mean we also need to wait that long i mean more than 3 months now since that email and she havent got it yet.. #patiencerunningout #beenlong

phieww.. . seriously? .:confused: ..Addyhottie got her LOE after 6 weeks. . Have she tried calling AHPRA about her application? I posted last time that I called AHPRA last MARCH 6, they told me that in a couple of weeks they will contact me for the result of the assessment. If our application is for final approval, the Board of nursing of western australia will further assess our application, after that they will release the result if we are eligible or not. I'm estimating that I will have my LOE by March 29 . . .

I'm not truly familiar with your situation.. but I think you can apply to AHPRA even though you had a 1 year gap and I don't think you need to be currently employed. However, your chances of being approved will be higher if you are currently employed (especially with your employment gap)... I'm not entirely sure about this but, please read the previous posts (page 1-10 or 100+) or rather check their website and read their brochure to be sure...just search AHPRA in google...

experience for ahpra is commulative for the last 5 years. as long as you got 3 months I think. just explain the gap in your cv and ull be fine. i think it good to be employed while having your application as to having a reference for them.

When did addyhottie applied? Maybe s/he was way ahead of us? like before Sept... Since enigma's friend had her application received last sept 2011...Or maybe enigma's friend's application got lost during the holidays? Just speculations...

@ladydee-rn

She did but the answer is she is still for final approval. that what they also told her. when that email came in replied to her case officer and her case officer said in 4-6 weeks but until now she havent got it. her experience is very good with ER background so. yeah.. i hope it wont be that long for us.

i remember adyhotties application came for victoria first right? so her/his timeline is different from our.. i have read that before wa receive his/her application in nov. but july he/she applied it to victoria before he/she transfered it.

May I ask, when was the receipt of the document? And after that receipt you were ask for the course outline? When did you send the course outline?

gosh..this is bad... So addyhotties' application was thoroughly assessed already prior to the final approval? hmmm... I thought that if you transfer your application to another state, they will have to reassess again?

Let's just think positive.. Who knows maybe your friend's application got piled up during the holidays... Did she try to contact AHPRA? Maybe it lack follow-up?

@g3stalt

are there instances wherein ahpra denied someone for bp? coz in page one, it was written that its not important if you have exp or not.

* i remembered a friend who was not able to register because she failed her IELTS 3x. she filed without an IELTS, planning on taking it while the application is no progress. but she failed to get the qouta score.

***other than this does anybody here know people who are not approved by ahpra?
