Due to recent changes regarding applications for International nurses to Australia and the combining of the nursing boards to one central nursing board in Australia AHPRA I have started a new thread for people to discuss the new process on working in Australia.
Currently New Zealand is not accepting new applicants from International trained nurses except those that meet the Trans Tasman Mutual Recognition Agreement {TTMR} this will be updated once the New Zealand nursing board reopen their books to International nurses.

Part 1 thread New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand - Nursing for Nurses
Hi everyone. Let me share with you my timeline in my application for eligibilty until i got my visa.
end of May 2011- I finally decided to pursue my application for Australia. Through the persistent power of my friend who is already a Registered Nurse there, i finally gave in. I payed a consultancy firm to help me with the application, but looking back, i handled most of the burden in applying, so my advice to everyone who are planning to pay a consultant, just read most of the posts here and you will be fine :)
June 2011- completion of requirements. it took me awhile to complete everything because it is quite a lot especially the Statement of Employment (i had to get hold of 5 certificates fr the companies that i worked with) Completing the requirements is exhausting!!
July 25 2011- lodged my application with AHPRA QLD.
Oct 25, 2011- after 3 months of waiting. I got my LoE. They did not ask for add'l requirements. and my case officer at that time was able to answ my queries about anything during the waiting time.
* while waiting for my LoE, i emailed several BP providers and inquiring about their program. most of them emailed back including IHNA, CON, MERCY HEALTH and ACFE.
Oct 29, 2011- I was so eager to start that i applied for IHNA since they have the earliest intake for 2012. If i am not mistaken, i was initially interviewed by the admin officer around 2nd week of November 2011.
November 2011- * 2nd interview for IHNA through skype, 4 days after (November 29,2011) I got my offer letter for the February 2012 intake.
The offer was tentative until i pay 1000AUD (it is like the reservation fee for the slot) and enroll in the Intro to RN Bridging online program for 500AUD. I got my CoA (Certificate of Acceptance), 2 days after paying.
December 22,2011- I lodged my application for a 456 Visa (VIA centre).
January 4, 2011- acknowledged the receipt of my application.
* this is the hardest part of my whole application process. since they never responded to my emails and follow up.
January 30,2012- i got my medical request only because i personally went to the embassy. I took my chances to get in and surprisingly, the security allowed me and my mother.
On the same day, i went to Nationwide Health in makati to have my medicals. I had to go back a week after for my urinalysis though.
February 7, 2012- UA ( had some problems again, so they advised me to be back for another week).
IHNA called also that day, telling me that they are moving me to next available intake since i still don't have my VISA on hand.
February 18, 2012- medicals were sent to the embassy via E-health services.
*My friends told me to wait for 5 days before following up.
5 days after-- i emailed my case officer every other day, I NEVER got any response.
February 20 something- lucky to be admitted again for April 2 Melbourne intake.
March 1, 2012- Visa was delivered. but Grant date was Feb 28, 2012 :)
I am leaving on the 28th of March for my orientation on the 30th.
to all who are on the verge of waiting, continue to pray and truly, PATIENCE is a virtue. Good luck to all of us.
Thank you to the forumers who shared their experience as they go along.

hello guys! i am currently processing my requirements for my application to AHPRA.
I would like to ask about the payment. For the money order or bank draft, is it okay to get it from local banks like BPI or BDO? The form says it should be drawn from an Australian bank. I can't find one here in our area. Thanks!
