New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand Part 2

World Registration

Published

Due to recent changes regarding applications for International nurses to Australia and the combining of the nursing boards to one central nursing board in Australia AHPRA I have started a new thread for people to discuss the new process on working in Australia.

Currently New Zealand is not accepting new applicants from International trained nurses except those that meet the Trans Tasman Mutual Recognition Agreement {TTMR} this will be updated once the New Zealand nursing board reopen their books to International nurses.

Hello! May I know if you sent it also in AHPRA-WA? And did you do a lot of follow-up e-mails? because I only started asking fpr updates last Feb.15 only and after 2 weeks, that's when they told me that my papers are for final assessment... I realize that maybe speed of processing might also be affected by how much you ask for updates ... what do you think?

Hi g3stalt! Yes, I sent my application in AHPRA WA. Sept. 2 to be exact.

I did email them several times but not to ask for updates but to clarify some requirement that they asked me to submit again. I think I emailed them 6 six times but I haven't received any reply from them. I really can't say if too much asking for updates can speed up the process but I'm sure WA has a lot of pending documents; I think they have been slowed by the bulk of applications they receive these days.

God bless to your application.

Is it true that we can apply for STUDENT VISA for BP? What are the chances for approval? TIA! :) Any successful experiences?

It really depends on what school you are enrolled to. If its a Cricos accredited then you should be on a student visa.

hey guys! just a question. i haven't done my MMR shots yet coz i'm thinking if our baby book records will suffice? if yes, can we just have a medical certificate stating when these shots were given when were babies? do they really ask for the baby book record per se when we reach AUS?

Hi cummulus. I received a letter form a school stating:

"Please note that baby books and childhood history are not allowed as supporting documents for the vaccination form. Serum test reports and booster shots documents are preferable. This form is going to be used prior to clinical placements so it must be completed."

I hope this helps.

hello guys...i'm new here and been reading this tread all day....just wondering where should i submit my application forms..i mean what APHRA state or teritory? Any suggestions....I know one -ACT...what are the rest? Thanks...hope for a reply...

Hi serveRN. You may want to visit this site Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency - Contact Us It has the list of 9 different locations where you can send your documents for assessment.

Hope this helps.

hi..

i am just curious about the visa which is 456 business visa with multiple entry. Having a status of it as a multiple entry, can I go back to the Philippines and then fly again to Australia even though I am finished with my BP. I mean, does an immigration officer allow you to spend another 3 months without any "business" to do which in fact, your real intention is to wait for your registration and look for job?

Hi jayvincible. I have a friend who did exactly as you mentioned. And I personally think that you still have a business in Aus... to follow up and get your nursing registration.

Cheers! good luck to your bp!

No. I haven't found one yet. I am currently reviewing different BP provider sites for requirement, accommodation etc. I'm on tight budget and so I'm hoping to do the course in a school which has an accommodation near the facility.

Hope you will receive your LOE soonest. Just keep the faith.

Good luck to us!

hi everyone . . .

September 30------Submitted my application to AHPRA-WA

October 3----------AHPRA received my documents

Feb. 15, 2012------I received an email stating that it's final approval already ( I emailed and called AHPRA several times)

It's almost a month now and I haven't received my LOE :sniff: .. . I called AHPRA last Tuesday, and they told me that the "FINAL APPROVAL" they are referring to is that my application is still for further assessment by the nursing board of Western Australia. I asked them what batch of applicants is being assessed this week, and they told me it's the September applicants. In a couple of weeks they will assess mine and they will contact me about the outcome of the assessment.

Well, another weeks of waiting. Hope it is true that after 2 weeks I will receive an email from AHPRA . . .I am hoping and praying for our LOE. . . .I am getting impatient . . . :nurse:

I also got this letter last Feb 15.. but my application is in AHPRA-NSW and it was received last Nov.7... I gues, we sort of have the same timeline.. DO you have a school for bp, in mind already?

Hi g3stalt!

i really don't know if that 5-6 weeks waiting time after they send us that email about being for final assessment already is accurate. i guess that is just the average waiting time :(

I feel like there's a block somewhere within Aphra WA thats preventing the timely flow of LOEs haha. i guess they just have a mountain of applications to attend to. It has been four arduous and slow months of waiting for me.

I don't have a bp school yet, i cant seem to focus on that part without my LOE yet.

thanks, i really do hope we could get a good break this march. keeping my fingers and toes crossed! lol
