New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand Part 2

Published

Due to recent changes regarding applications for International nurses to Australia and the combining of the nursing boards to one central nursing board in Australia AHPRA I have started a new thread for people to discuss the new process on working in Australia.

Currently New Zealand is not accepting new applicants from International trained nurses except those that meet the Trans Tasman Mutual Recognition Agreement {TTMR} this will be updated once the New Zealand nursing board reopen their books to International nurses.

No, I'm finish with the BP last December 2011. I'm about to work soon.. It depends on you, student visa allows you to work part time while 456 does not. Moreover, the show money required for a student visa is much more as compared to 456 & the processing time is also longer.

No I went back here to process all the documents for my employment. If you already have a slot at a BP school then I think you have a lot of time to process your visa application. Just one piece of advice, finish your medicals as soon as possible because base on experience that's the only thing that will impede your application.

oh thank you very much! then i'd process my medicals this week too! good luck on your job!

hi guys! i'm just new here..it seems that most of the people here know a lot about aphra application. i'm also one of you guys who want to pursue my nursing profession in australia. well, i got a lot of questions regarding the application process so i can go for a bridging program. i just filed my application in aphra-wa. i received an email from them confirming that they have received my application last february 02, 2012. indicated in their email was this:

in order to assist ahpra staff with the assessment process, can you please provide us with the following information:

- if your current australian visa is expiring within the next two months, please provide your visa number, type and expiry date.

- if you have an offer of employment in australia as a nurse commencing within the next two months, please provide a letter of offer from your employer stating the intended commencement date.

- if neither of the above apply, i would be obliged if you could confirm the state or territory where you intend to be employed once you gain registration.

in order that your application can be assessed further, could you please forward a certified copy of the course outline or student handbook from the university or institution where your qualification was conferred. we do not require the whole course syllabus, simply an outline of the courses conducted, and the theoretical and clinical units undertaken within each course.

with regard to this, i'm quite confused on what to answer. first of all, i don't have a current australian visa and an offer of employment. well, right now, i still cannot confirm the state or terriroty where i intend to be employed. how should i answer this?..because i will undergo bp first..please help..

also, i already included in the attachments a certified copy of the course outline. should i submit again another copy or just tell them that i already forwarded it together with my other documents?..

kindly enlighten me regarding this matter. thank you and god bless!=)

hi star17 . .it's a generic mail for all the applicants . .i have received that kind of email too. if you have sent your course description, then you have nothing to worry about. just email them that you have included your course description. some of the requirements that they are referring are not applicable to you, so you don't need to answer it.

Does being a U.S. licensed RN recognized in Australia? Is it a definitive plus? Do filipino educated nurses who hold a US license as RN do still need to undergo the bridging program? Thanks

You will find that it doesn't make much difference. We have seen people who have worked in the UK still have to do the bridge due to where they trained not where they worked

I heard that with regards to visa application and medicals, it's the embassy's new rule (just last december) to lodge your application first, before you can do your medicals. I think you have to wait for a request coming from them that you have to do the medical exam. I'm not so sure though :)

Just done with my interview by ACFE today. But they told me that their next vacant slot for BP is June, i was hoping I can start next month if there is a slot and somebody will back out.
