Due to recent changes regarding applications for International nurses to Australia and the combining of the nursing boards to one central nursing board in Australia AHPRA I have started a new thread for people to discuss the new process on working in Australia.
Currently New Zealand is not accepting new applicants from International trained nurses except those that meet the Trans Tasman Mutual Recognition Agreement {TTMR} this will be updated once the New Zealand nursing board reopen their books to International nurses.

anyone who already has a personal accident insurance?where and how did you apply?
how much is it?
thanks
Hi dear,
I'm gonna get one health insurance yes! Just in case...u know....
I've been reading about AHM. They have an insurance for students but then our course would have to be CRICOS registered, which is not CON´s case. Also, they offer a traveller insurance which is around 90 dollars monthly, depending on what you´d like to be covered.
Google their webiste (wwe.ahm.com.au, I'm not so sure..) I've googled other providers but they offered the best options so far...
Hi,If you already have enrolled in e-learning, then definitely your offer letter will be yours soon. Aside from that, you have to pay the enrolment fee which is if im not mistaken AUD500.
Thanks Jay. Yeah I already payed 500 ausd e-learning enrollment and they provided me log in I.D and a password. I've heared that offer letter will come around 2 weeks after enrolled for e-learning. Are you applying for IHNA as well?
Hi guys!Would like to ask if would you recommend I go through an agency or just do the processing for AHPRA by myself?
HI . this thread is a big help if you process by yourself. It does not guarantee that going through an agency will shorten the assessment time. It all depends in what state you submitted your documents, your case officer and certain circumstances that can prolong assessment period. . . . However, there are also some agencies that offer financial help aside from processing your documents. . . It depends on you . . . God bless ..

Also if you are coming to Australia on a student visa it is a condition of your visa. I was with AHM when I arrived in Australia awhile back. They are easy to deal with. You can inquire about your particular requirements with them.
@ds42i think it takes 3-6 days before you can receive an email from deakin...as for la trobe haha you should not have waived the application fee - so they can immediately assess your paper. >.
yes, deakin is my target school cause it is near my friend's house. so, if it is just a walking distance i can walk or run to save money(wink >.
i also going for deakin university in melbourne. the deadline is fast approaching and i am still waiting for my ahpra letter. i hope it will arrived next week. where are you located?
First of all I am disappointed at AHPRA. I sent my application to Melbourne Victoria in July 2011. I arrived here in Australia at September 2011 since my husband lives here and guess what, when I went to their office personally.. they haven't assessed it yet when in fact it has been more than 2 months and my friend who sent her application in West Australia got her eligibility letter from AHPRA WA when in fact we both sent it on the same month. The difference was she sent it to WA and I sent it to Melbourne.
So I decided to have it transfer to AHPRA in West Australia coz I was hoping that it would be faster there, it got there on November 1 and it is already January 13, 2012 and no news yet. They told me my documents are all complete and on its way to final approval but still there is no eligibility letter yet. I am planning to go to Deakin University in Melbourne but the deadline for their May intake is on the last week of January. huhuhu. HELP!!!

Hi, just stick to your application in AHPRA WA. They processed LOE faster than Victoria. You still have 2 weeks so just keep the faith. Pray.
PS. I think I know you. I'm not sure though.

Do the processing yourself...an agency will only cost you additional expenses.
You can find anything in this thread, from concerns regarding CV to statement of service to RLE to BP schools. If you have time to read, the steps are also here.( haha I sound like an advertisement)^_^
The choice is yours >.
