New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand Part 2

Published

Due to recent changes regarding applications for International nurses to Australia and the combining of the nursing boards to one central nursing board in Australia AHPRA I have started a new thread for people to discuss the new process on working in Australia.

Currently New Zealand is not accepting new applicants from International trained nurses except those that meet the Trans Tasman Mutual Recognition Agreement {TTMR} this will be updated once the New Zealand nursing board reopen their books to International nurses.

hi.

AHPRA - ACT told me that it will take them 8 weeks for an overseas RN application to be assessed and completed. Note that they said completed, not an email or whatsoever that states they received all your documents.

thanks for the info. did you send your application there? i already requested my certificate of good standing from prc and i used the address of WA but now I'm contemplating of changing the state i will pass my papers since some forumers here said that WA is taking long already.

Hi Guys!

I'm a bit anxious about my application. My documents were received by AHPRA VIC last Sept 15; it was confirmed by e-mail. I mailed them all of my documents except my IELTS result and my cert of good standing because the email says something like 'my application is currently being assessed and I will be notified if any further information is required'. Do I have to wait for them to instruct me to send them those documents? I've been thinking they might ask for anything else aside from those that's why I haven't taken action of doing anything after that email.

Can you share some of your experience alike? I am very open to any suggestions, if you may share some. TIA

yes, I sent my application to ACT. And in a couple of weeks it'll be 8 weeks since I submitted my application, so we'll know for sure how long will it really take them to process the application. The great thing about ACT (which I don't know about the other AHPRA offices) is they're very prompt and polite when you ask them something.

I would send it to them coz they'll for sure request for it anyway and it will probably delay the assessment if you decide to sent it on a later date. But that's just me.

That's the correct address where you'd send your application. But I actually sent it their Postal (GPO) address, which is sort of a mistake. But the mail service was smart enough to re-route the mail to the correct address.

Just for further info, I know a staffing / recruitment agency based in Australia that advises their applicant to also consider sending the application to TAS, NT, or SA.
