New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand Part 2

Published

Due to recent changes regarding applications for International nurses to Australia and the combining of the nursing boards to one central nursing board in Australia AHPRA I have started a new thread for people to discuss the new process on working in Australia.

Currently New Zealand is not accepting new applicants from International trained nurses except those that meet the Trans Tasman Mutual Recognition Agreement {TTMR} this will be updated once the New Zealand nursing board reopen their books to International nurses.

No. The bp is only at most 3 months long. 1 month lecture and 2 months OJT. What you may be referring to is the 12-24 months conversion program - a lot more expensive. That is why most students apply for the 456 business short stay visa which allows you to stay in Australia for 3 months at a time.

You can apply to any bp school in all of Australia even if you got your eligibility from WA - this is one of the advantages of having a nationalized licensing system. You can, then, practice in any state too.

As for the bp schools, I won't suggest any. Most of these are based in Victoria, so take your pick. My primary consideration is the earliest intake. Next is the tuition fee. Lastly, is the shortest course. Come job hunting time, your work experience and English communication skills will matter most. And, of course, your performance during the bp because your lecturers/preceptors will likely be your professional reference and endorsers to your future employers. Show them your best behavior and attitude towards your training and your colleagues. You will, most likely, be selling yourself like hot, delicious pancakes!!! :yeah::yeah::lol2::yeah:

il take note what you said, il be selling my self like a "hot and delicious pancakes" hehe

thank you for that piece of advice.

Anyway, do you know what school has the earliest intake for next year as much as possible in melbourne? and what if im done with my BP, how long am i going to wait for my registration? Because im a little bit anxious with my IELTS, its expiration date would be Next September.

Another thing, what if im done with my BP and received my registration from AHPRA, do i still need to have an unexpired IELTS while looking for job?

:nurse:

Anyone here tried applying in ACFE?

Their application fee of 190 AUD is so expensive! Haha

thank you!!now that i got the copy i need to print it out and then where will i send the application?/sorry foe the ignorance i really don't know what to do next..god bless!!

Most schools have January intakes. Some have Feb. Just check their websites or if not, email them. They usually respond.

My niece waited 3 weeks after the bp before she received her RN license. But then again, it really depends on which state and the reg officer handling your case. Others I read in this forum received their license a week after.

You will definitely need an unexpired IELTS test result for your working visa. When I applied for registration with AHPRA last Dec 2010, I thought there was enough time before my previous IELTS expires on Sept 26 this year. Boy, was I wrong!!! So, I took another IELTS test last July 30 and fortunately passed the minimum score in all categories.

You can never gauge from the experiences of others about the timeline from application... to eligibility... to bp graduation... to RN license... to finding a job... and getting a working visa. Others were luckier than others. Mine, though, took 7 months to get AHPRA eligibility and another 2 months to get in a bp slot.

The best advice I can give you and others is to persevere and try to finish all the documents asap and apply to all bp schools as much as possible. You will have more options this way instead of just applying for one school because it's the school you really want or it's nearest to your relative or that it has the nearest intake. ;)

:uhoh3: Your question is driving me nuts - hahahaha. You can be anywhere in the world when you apply for bp just as when you applied for registration with AHPRA. :lol2:

who is going to AAON? :) I hope to get a slot for next year.just sent them my docs. ihna, hph, mercy health and aaon are my choices as of now. IHNA is quite quick as it only a few hours before confirming receipt of my scanned docs. :) I hope to have some of you here as classmates in Oz in the near future. God Bless us all! To God All be the Glory!

Hi guys! Newbie here, excuse my ignorance in navigating around here. Just found this forum today but I'm glad I did. :) If I may ask, what's the difference between an EN and a RN? If I want to apply for a BP in Aus, what should I apply for? EN or RN? Thanks!
