Due to recent changes regarding applications for International nurses to Australia and the combining of the nursing boards to one central nursing board in Australia AHPRA I have started a new thread for people to discuss the new process on working in Australia.
Currently New Zealand is not accepting new applicants from International trained nurses except those that meet the Trans Tasman Mutual Recognition Agreement {TTMR} this will be updated once the New Zealand nursing board reopen their books to International nurses.

Part 1 thread New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand - Nursing for Nurses
Hi GuysIf anybody knows that APHRA decision letter I received last month by E mail is only needed to apply BP course in Australia or I should wait for the original to come via Post .Please guide me.I want to get November intake for BP,Guide me where to apply.thanks
Hi. Back read 2 pages and you'll see a post by joiemike and in future try to back read first before posting. Saves time for everyone.
Australia is a big country. The question you should answer first is where you want to live and then where can I easily find work, what is the transportation like-no jeepneys or tricycles here. There maybe other questions that I've left but the answer really is where you apply depends on you.
so I need to re-apply as RN. i wish there was some other way i could keep EN and work there after bp. thanks rajotolentino!
Anyone who knows someone doing Enrolled Nurse (Div.2) and stayed and worked in AU after BP??? Please guys I need more information before I re-apply as RN.
hi there fish... hope this info could help you...
i am a registered nurse here in philippines, and i applied an EN application to ahpra. when i got my eligibility letter it says there application for registration as EN, then i started reading this thread (Good for me) and came to know that I should have applied my assessment as RN not EN. I was so deppressed knowing i made a big mistake, what i did is, I wrote to my case officer asking her if i could have an RN assessment instead of EN. That it was my mistake not to know the difference between RN and EN, i asked her if she could give me more options on what to do in my situation.. I dont want to wait again for 9 mos for my eligibility letter.
then... God is so good,, she replied I assessed your document as RN...and she send me another Eligibility letter stating Application for registration as RN. Maybe you could do the same so that you dont have to re apply again. well just sharing my story... Goodluck!!!

hi gl25what do you mean with reference number? where can i get that and where will i place it when sending my docs?
upon application, when a case officer recieves your document they will notify you in email. In that email, they will say that they have recieved your documents and they will give you your reference number. Also in that email they will say "please use the reference number when sending required documents again". when I am sending my documents I usually put my reference number in the left lower corner of the envelope, or if the school will send the document in my behalf i am telling them to put the reference number just below the address of ahpra.
Congrats Joiemike!I'm very happy with the outcome of all your efforts from applying to AHPRA to getting your visa. Hope you can still have time to visit and post in this thread even when you're doing the BP already. Your comments and advice are really helpful to each one of us here still on the process of fulfilling our Ozzie dreams. Godbless you :)
*I'm still looking for BP school. Hai. Anyone out there in the same boat as mine. Any updates with your application?
Same here, still looking for Bp schools,, hope we could find one already hehehehe... no good news yet on BP hunting!!! Keep the faith>>>

You can go ahead and print it. You will receive exactly the same letter with an electronic signature in the postmail anyway. You can go ahead and apply to bp schools and even use this emailed letter as orig doc for visa processing. AHPRA seems to want to cover all the bases in the event that their letter will be lost in our "snail" mail system. They must have received numerous complaints from us applicants in the past of delayed or mishandled postmailed documents. Hahahaha
good evening..do you know the length of time of the BP? would it depend the experience you have or the school youll be enrolling?
Yup. Most have their bp for 12 weeks. Some schools like ETEA, La Trobe, Uni of Ballarat (AAON) have early exit on the 8th or 9th week if a student performs well early on (Sorry, doesn't depend on work experience but actual performance during lectures and clinicals). CON has the shortest at 8 weeks. You can confirm this info from the school's websites. The prices also vary wildly. Hollywood Private Hosp is the cheapest at Au $4,000.00. ETEA has drastically increased their tuition to $14,000.00.
hi there joemike,,,,
just wanted to ask you about some forms in bP schools... Some of the school forms is asking about a visa.. from my understanding, I will need thier offer letter first so I could apply for a visa.. but some forms was asking about a visa already.. should i just leave it blank? Because in one of the requirements they're are asking a certified copy of a Valid visa which permits the applicant to complete the course in australia.
im really having a confusion because of this requirement...
by the way CONGRATULATIONS IN FULFILLING YOUR AUSSIE DREAM, GOBLESS YOU AND YOUR FAMILY ALWAYS!!!

good morning..
why is it i don't have that reference number? i already received an email from my reg officer but she did not tell me my reference number. I applied in AHPRA WA.
hello nylle_rnWhen did you send your application to AHPRA WA? i also sent mine in WA last week of July.
hi! i sent mine 2nd wk of august since I had to wait for my July 30 IELTS exam result. I sent the required documents simultaneously with British Council sending the IELTS result directly to AHPRA. So far, i haven't heard from them except for the two emails saying that it is currently being assessed. Same here, no reference number mentioned..good luck to us!!!:)

wow, hopefully we could have eligibility soon, before the year ends. Where do you plan to have your BP?
Im also confused why AHPRA WA does not have a reference number in there email.

Is there a BP that suggests you to have 6 to 9 months? Im just worried if they are going to advice me to undertake that length of time . i hope i could just have that 12 weeks.. Another thing, i applied in AHPRA WA, can i have my BP in Melbourne since i have my relatives residing there. And What school in Melbourne you can suggest me to enroll.
Thank you so much Joiemike.
