Due to recent changes regarding applications for International nurses to Australia and the combining of the nursing boards to one central nursing board in Australia AHPRA I have started a new thread for people to discuss the new process on working in Australia.
Currently New Zealand is not accepting new applicants from International trained nurses except those that meet the Trans Tasman Mutual Recognition Agreement {TTMR} this will be updated once the New Zealand nursing board reopen their books to International nurses.

Yup. Most have their bp for 12 weeks. Some schools like ETEA, La Trobe, Uni of Ballarat (AAON) have early exit on the 8th or 9th week if a student performs well early on (Sorry, doesn't depend on work experience but actual performance during lectures and clinicals). CON has the shortest at 8 weeks. You can confirm this info from the school's websites. The prices also vary wildly. Hollywood Private Hosp is the cheapest at Au $4,000.00. ETEA has drastically increased their tuition to $14,000.00.

I also sent my doc to AHPRA WA last july 26. And my reg officer emailed me on Aug 3 about receiving my doc, and she asked me to send my syllables and theoretical and clinical units (sent all these on aug 16). Then on Aug 4 i received the receipt of my registration and its been assessed. After that i havent received any email from them. Hopefully the outcome will be positive same as yours.

Hi makikay! Thanks! My friend received her eligibility letter from AHPRA WA yesterday. We sent our documents on the same day so I'm confident that you will get yours soon. =) Keep the faith. =)

wow! good for you..i also sent my application to AHPRA Western Australia..i hope I receive my eligibility letter soon too. The most recent letter told me that my application is currently being assessed.I'm curious, was your eligibility letter automatically sent through email or did you personally ask them to inform you that way instead of the regular mail..thanks..
Yes nyle. My eligibility letter was automatically sent through email. Good luck!=)

Im really more hopeful now by your story. But i have some queries to ask: did they ask you to send you your theoretical and clinical units? have you send yours with hours? since in my case i asked my school registrar and they said its all in my TOR and course outline, however my theoretical units does not have any hours, only units. Does theoretical units includes only Nursing subject right, lec and lab? Another thing, i dont have any signature with my employer in my CV, am i just going to wait if they're going to email me and ask for it?

My assessor did not ask me to send additional school documents after receipt of all requirements. My school sent my OTR, RLE, detailed course outline of non-nursing and nursing subjects and another document detailing theoretical and clinical hours. I don't have any signature of my employer in my CV either since I am not currently employed. They will email you once they need additional documents. A week before I got my eligibility, AHPRA emailed me with regard to certificate of good standing.
hi there joemike,,,,just wanted to ask you about some forms in bP schools... Some of the school forms is asking about a visa.. from my understanding, I will need thier offer letter first so I could apply for a visa.. but some forms was asking about a visa already.. should i just leave it blank? Because in one of the requirements they're are asking a certified copy of a Valid visa which permits the applicant to complete the course in australia.
im really having a confusion because of this requirement...
by the way CONGRATULATIONS IN FULFILLING YOUR AUSSIE DREAM, GOBLESS YOU AND YOUR FAMILY ALWAYS!!!
Just leave it blank. You go ahead and apply to all the bp schools asap even with incomplete docs. Most, if not all of them, will respond to your application anyway and ask for any additional docs that they may want. It's best to do this so you will be the first in line with their waitlist. As with AHPRA, the bp schools also treat each application on a first come first served basis even if you have incomplete supporting docs.
Is there a BP that suggests you to have 6 to 9 months? Im just worried if they are going to advice me to undertake that length of time. i hope i could just have that 12 weeks.. Another thing, i applied in AHPRA WA, can i have my BP in Melbourne since i have my relatives residing there. And What school in Melbourne you can suggest me to enroll.
Thank you so much Joiemike.
I'm gald with this forum because ive learned a lot from you guys.
Thank you:nurse:
No. The bp is only at most 3 months long. 1 month lecture and 2 months OJT. What you may be referring to is the 12-24 months conversion program - a lot more expensive. That is why most students apply for the 456 business short stay visa which allows you to stay in Australia for 3 months at a time.
You can apply to any bp school in all of Australia even if you got your eligibility from WA - this is one of the advantages of having a nationalized licensing system. You can, then, practice in any state too.
As for the bp schools, I won't suggest any. Most of these are based in Victoria, so take your pick. My primary consideration is the earliest intake. Next is the tuition fee. Lastly, is the shortest course. Come job hunting time, your work experience and English communication skills will matter most. And, of course, your performance during the bp because your lecturers/preceptors will likely be your professional reference and endorsers to your future employers. Show them your best behavior and attitude towards your training and your colleagues. You will, most likely, be selling yourself like hot, delicious pancakes!!! :yeah:
