New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand Part 2

Published

Due to recent changes regarding applications for International nurses to Australia and the combining of the nursing boards to one central nursing board in Australia AHPRA I have started a new thread for people to discuss the new process on working in Australia.

Currently New Zealand is not accepting new applicants from International trained nurses except those that meet the Trans Tasman Mutual Recognition Agreement {TTMR} this will be updated once the New Zealand nursing board reopen their books to International nurses.

Part 1 thread New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand - Nursing for Nurses

Hello guys :) Hope everyone is doing great. This is my first time to post here. May I ask which branch/location of AHPRA is known for being fast in processing applications? Thank you :)

WA or ACT

WA or ACT

Thanks :)

Btw, can I get your email address? I would like to ask you few questions / regarding the AGOS form and CV. If that's ok. :) I don't know how to send a private message here. :D Thank you.

How could you guys not believe him if there's 3 guys supporting this claim whos already in Australia. The tuition fee in BP is no joke if you have no means of paying it back in the future :uhoh3:

Its time to make plan B guys...:crying2:

"competitive" job market is the key word here.. your credentials should be competitive, you must be competitive.. remember when you apply for work in the phils. that you have to compete, that's how it is.. i would not say there are no jobs but that you must compete for those jobs.. 2-3 years ago, as long as you have the RN license then you do not have to worry, it is different nowadays...

hi there...

i'm new to this forum, and i hope somebody here can help me

im planning to take the BP in australia...

i would like to ask if a working experience is needed...

im currently on my way to my 2nd yr as a staff nurse in a tertiary hospital in Manila,,,

how can i provide an evidence that i am currently employed ( or is it needed?), if our hospital doesnt issue yet my employment certificate?

thank you...

as a newbie, kindly read page 01...

My friends came to ETEA the other day to ask if they can still be able to apply for this year's intake but sadly, 2011 intake is already full. That's why they just requested to be on the waiting list..But, the happy idea is, if the waiting list will total to 30 students or more..they'll probably open another intake for this year. Their assessment is not as stringent as everyone thinks because of the $150 assessment fee. So guys go for it.. That's for everyone who's dying to get a school this 2011. ETEA's tuition is $11,900..more expensive than others actually..for you to decide :)

anyone here have any idea, how much is the tuition fee for AAON? how long is the duration of their BP intake? what is their email add? when are the schedule of their intakes? because I can't seem to open their website.

Thnx in advance!

I'm confused pls help me ..

I'm still here in Philippines doing some volunteer work as RN for 1 year already

My brother in Australia told me to get at least 2 years nursing experience before he sponsor me ( I don't know much about sponsorship )

I am also a second courser and I think my credentials are not that good for example my TOR. Do you think APHRA will give special consideration to those applicants who are migrants? I don't want to be an EN hope that they dont demote me.

Is there a free BP ? I don't have the money to support the BP and my brother wont support me for BP

Is there another way to become RN in Aus aside form BP?

If BP is only the way to become RN in Aus maybe I will work as a carer first and save money

How much is the average salary of Carer in Aus (NT) rural ? pls answer so that I can assess how long I will save for BP

Thank you so much to all

1) for visa sponsorship/application: paid employment experience is needed to get that "points" for "experience".. volunteer experience is useless for visa sponsorship/application purposes..

2) ahpra will assess you based on their rules/requirements, nothing to do with your migrant status or whatever..

3) if you are a PR, there are options for loan for your BP, otherwise, no free meal..

4) BP is the only way, now.. before AHPRA, there are many short cuts, like what i did.. im one of the dumbest RN to come in Oz and work because i did not undergo BP.. got my RN license outright... good thing now, my nursing IQ had risen well enough to work as an aged care RN.. geeez..

5) you cannot work as carer or any job, if you do not have a valid visa.. assuming you have a valid visa, then you can work as a carer.. i think it is 16-20 dollars per hour, i reall dont know the exact amount.. if you are stingy and if you live in rural area and if you just walk to your workplace (no need for car) then, you can save money for your BP, (better yet during that period of time, marry a citizen, but that's just our secret, do not tell anyone)..

cheers mate!

Hi I have a few questions about filing my application.

1. Do I need to send an original Statement of Service or is it enough to send a Certified true copy?

2. I am currently working in Riyadh, but I will be going home this August. Do I need to provide a police clearance from Saudi Arabia or can I just get an NBI clearance from the Philippines?

3. Section D: Registration History The board requires a cert of Registration from every Jurisdiction outside Australia. you must arrange for original cert to be forwarded directly from the licensing authority to The nursing midwifery board. I am currently working in Riyadh and will be going home this August. Do I need to provide a cert of good standing from the Licensing authority here in Saudi Arabia? I already have my cert of reg from here but the problem is they do not forward documents anywhere instead they gave me the copy in a sealed envelope. what shall I do... Help please. Thanks..!!!!!!!

1) hope others can answer this question.. if i am in your situation, i will send a certified true copy.. but ask others..

2) it is the DIAC which will require this clearance, and so yes, better obtain it, otherwise DIAC may not grant you visa.. the rule is: if you stayed 6 mos. in a certain country, you are required to obtain a police clearance..

3) let us clarify specific terms here.. "cert. of good standing" and "verification of license/registration" are the same mammals.. "certificate of registration" is another specie.. if they give you "cert. of good standing or verif. of license" in a sealed envelope, girl, find a trusted and pretty friend there in KSA, leave that document to her, tell her to send the document from KSA to Oz upon the time you will send your AHPRA application.... is what im saying now the standard answer? no it is not the standard answer... in fact others who are straight will disagree with my answer... street smart...no choice in your case, just have to be street smart...

reading from your posts specifically regarding IELTS, in my own understanding we need valid IELTS when:

1. applying with AHPRA

2. during bridging program (depending on the BP school but most require ielts)..

3. for registration after BP

and

4. when finding for work/ sponsor work (this I'm really confused) (DIAC requires ielts to be approved of 457 visa)..

Kindly correct me if I'm wrong guys :)

to others:

as ive mentioned a million times, we must accept the reality of ielts (even me who is already working here, must re-take ielts for my pr application), how much more for those who are still in the phils.. stop believing that crap that agencies say....

here's the thing, if i am an agency: i will offer you courses where you can easily be accepted, like those requiring lower 7 ielts (this does not include RN !!!) like accountancy ek ek, childcare ek ek... i will offer you courses of 6 mos. to 1 year ek ek... WHY??? I want your money.. if i will offer you the short term BP, 50-70% of you will not be able to immediately enrol in BP because of failure in ielts, which means i will no longer earn money from you.. i will offer you "easy" courses so that for sure you will be enrolled and for sure you will pay me the fees, got my money.. other agency will offer the 2 year conversion RN course, because it is easy to be enrolled in it and most important of all you will pay me the fees, got my money again.... why should i offer you courses where the chances of earning money is just 50% when i can offer "easy" courses for me to earn money 100%... that's how the agency works, exception is, if your father or mother owns the agency then 200% trust that agency...

I'm in Aged Care now as a Carer not as an RN. Had this job week after BP with free accomodation. I waited for my AHPRA registration and afterwards walked around Adelaide and suburbs for employment. I also sent resumes to hospitals in WA, VIC, NSW.

Got too tired, depressed, disappointed, frustrated on 3rd month of job hunting... I stopped and went extra overtime as FT Carer to somehow earn as much as an RN.

6 months of job seeking...

i assume you are a PR thus you are allowed to work as you are working now.. i do not argue with what you are doing now..

if i am in your situation, here's what i do later on.... i will apply to work as casual/part-time RN while working as carer too.. there are a lot of casual/part-time RN jobs.. there is also a full-time RN job in Regis Corlette that has been opened for many weeks already...

opportunities abound for RNs with PR.. a matter of choice.. we even have available RN casual/part-time opening in our various nursing homes suitable for PR.. you can work both as carer and RN part-time/casual if you really chose to..

Hi ozbaby,

Completely agree and endorse what cioman94 advise you to do and he/she's probably not even in Adelaide. I work at the Royal Adelaide Hospital and work with a lot of casual nurses.
