Due to recent changes regarding applications for International nurses to Australia and the combining of the nursing boards to one central nursing board in Australia AHPRA I have started a new thread for people to discuss the new process on working in Australia.
Currently New Zealand is not accepting new applicants from International trained nurses except those that meet the Trans Tasman Mutual Recognition Agreement {TTMR} this will be updated once the New Zealand nursing board reopen their books to International nurses.

just a thought about the theory... now that all NB's are united under AHPRA, there won't be any difference on the duration of waiting for any update on applications... so the long lines in victoria or the short lines in northern territories doesn't matter anymore because there is only one line now... so i guess glio can stop regretting (that is, if he is regretting):):):)...
the offices in each state/territory have the power and authority to assess and process your application, the "main" nursing board will only make the signing of your application.. therefore if the office you applied at is quick in its processing then your application will move faster, otherwise it would be slow... so others that file in victoria office will be assessed by the staff in victoria office.. application in nsw will be assessed by nsw staff.. if there are 1000 applications in victoria versus 10 in nsw, i bet my licenses, nsw will finiz first in its job... this is also one of the major basis of the "theory"....
guys need to ask something. Is it possible to ask for the Certificate of good standing at PRC and then just ask them to send it later. Because I'm going to Cebu this Friday and I'm thinking of getting it already eventhough I'm still starting to collect all the documents for the application. But I will just ask them to send it next time when I'm all ready. The thing is PRC is far from where I am now, I still need to travel for hours and cross the sea to get there. Hehe. Please share your insights regarding this matter. TY!
girl, i understand your need, but considering the inefficiency of our government agencies i doubt of that request of yours unless you have a papa or frendship in said PRC office..
the only thing that i could advise you now is, perhaps you have a papa in cebu city itself or frendships, or FB frends or camfroggers or admirers, then they can help you by requesting them to file for your request at the time you want it, in this case, you just have to give a letter of authority to that person who will request for it but that person should be a "professional" (nurse, engineer, cpa)..
so, those are the options you have... peace.. good luck..
in ahpra's website, it is said that those who were educated and licensed in the us, uk, nz. etc will now have an equivalent status to an australian graduate. take note though that Rns who only have a license but are not educated in those countries are not considered as equivalent. did i understand it correctly?
yes pre, you got it right.. those are the new rules... if we are still in the old rules, then you are wrong, but as ive said new AHPRA rules, you're 100% accurate..
hi. i don't know if the concern that i'm going to raise has already been asked in the previous thread, anyways, im still hoping that i still get some answers here since i think this thread is the most active and updated. =)
i sent my application to queensland nursing council last march 2010 and according to qnc's email to me last may 31, 2010 my papers already been assessed and that i just need to wait for further instructions until ahpra will commence come july 1. however up to now i dont know if my application papers were endorsed by qnc to ahpra. i tried to contact and ask ahpra regarding this but until now i haven't got any answers yet. is there anybody out there who's in the same situation as me? this really gives me headache since i dunno what to expect and i dont even know if my papers are really being assessed. i cant even start to apply in other countries because somehow i'm still hopeful that my papers are already "in"... help!!! anyone????

i empathize with your situation.....
- you are the first one that has a "complain" against qnc, most here have had against nsw, victoria, or sa..
- you tried to contact/ask ahpra? pls clarify specifically which/what office did you contact? ahpra qld branch office? you are supposed to contact follow up ahpra qld branch office and not in any other office?
- were the fees already collected from you?
- assuming you correctly contacted ahpra qnc branch office, well at this point of time you have no other recourse but to patiently keep on following up your documents.. explained that you had originally applied last march 2010 and just would like to know if your documents are not lost and if possible request for update.. no have no other choice but to be "kulit" at this point..
- keep in mind that ahpra qld is not supposedly busy as compared to others, so you can be persistent in emailing them every hour.. besides qnc staff are the same persons with present ahpra qld..
- under the rules and policies, your application should be forwarded from qnc to ahpra qld.. unless they are lost.
sorry, im just very curious.... back in march 2010, are you already aware of the july 2010 ahpra? also, were you aware that it normally took qnc 4-6 months to process an application? (thus, i dont believe the qnc statement to you that as of may 31, 2010 they had finished your assessment) ...were you also aware that the standard advice to filipino nurses back in december 2009 is not to send application in qnc because of the effect of july 2010 ahpra... im sorry for that.. but just pray and persistent in your efforts.. you;ll get the outcome you want, goal met.. good luck.. sorry.. but its not over really, its only delayed..
i'm here again with a question...
what if i've been approved to be a nurse by the AHPRA but with conditions.. Is there a Time limit for me from which I must start the bridge program and being unable to start the BP during the expanse of the time limit will result to reapplication? If there is, How long?
I raised the question so that I will know what to do... especially the time allotted for me to earn the tuition money
where can i find the amount for the application fee, registration fee, and assessment fee? im filling up the form now so i can have it sent today
hi! as a first time applicant, this is my breakdown of fees which i paid for this month of september. i used my mom's credit card ahihi!
application for general registration: aud 115
+
fee for annual renewal of general registration: aud 115 x 0.75 = 86.25
+
overseas assessment charge: aud 220
total: aud 421.25
please refer to:
ahpra - fees for new applicants
for the computation of fee for annual renewal of general registration
and
ahpra - web page or document could not be found
for the schedule/table/list of nurse fees
i hope i didn't miss anything. please message me if i did...
May I please ask a question? I know its a bit off but because its my first time to deal with international transactions, I'm really a blank slate regarding this:
How do I pay for my enrollment fee at VCHN? They gave me their bank details but I'm not quite sure where to do the payment? Do our local banks do this?? Please enlighten me. Haha. :)

1) may i know what "conditions" are you thinking of so that we could answer it accurately.. there are many probable conditions that AHPRA may set on a nurse's registration which could be found in the website.. so what are you referring..
2) the last time i check, you are given 2 years to enrol in a BP.. but remember that being accepted and enrolled in a BP school is a "concern" in itself.. meaning, let say you are granted today an eligibility letter, dont forget that you cannot control what batch/slot you will get in a BP school, you may apply now and be given a slot on December 2010 or earlier... and if you will apply later for enrolment say June 2011, how sure are you that the slot they will give you by that time is still within the 2 year period given to you? they might give you an October 2012 slot which is beyond the 2 year limit (assuming you are given approval today Sept.2010)... see the slight complications..
im just presenting it to you so that you are informed.. the only solution for this, is to apply for enrolment as soon as possible, but of course the money issue will hinder or complicate the situation IF the BP school demands for downpayment or reservation fees..
think things over.. and pray for guidance..

isobelle of manila? ryt?
1) you have a very good question, and other forumers who had undergone BP should answer your question based on their experience..
2) in the meantime, i think you already have an experience in paying via credit card considering your experience in dealing and paying the nursing board.. at this point of our discussion, i do not know to what extent the "bank details" are being given to you... but if you dont want any hassle and get a face-to-face answer, you just have to visit a bank (BDO, UCPB, METRO, etc.), choose the smaller branch because it is not busy as compared to a big branch or better yet go to your or your parents bank.. show the "bank details" and tell the staff that you want to pay the school, and ask help how to pay the school considering the "bank details" given to you.. the staff will answer your question and explain it to you, either they will require more "details" or the "details" are enough to implement the transaction.. chances are it is a "bank to bank" or "transfer of fund" transaction.. keep your receipts and documents, inform the school, perhaps scan the receipt/docus as you email informing them..
i may be able to explain it to you here if i have all the details (considering my banking background) but believe me it is best for you to visit your bank and do as ive told you above..
3) oooooops i missed something.... i think the school want payments in AUS Dollar, that will complicate things a bit.. so i hope others forumers could share.. but that can be solved by going to an Australian bank like ANZ which has a branch in Manila... just the same visit your bank first they will advice you then..
its hard for me to give advice with limited data... sorry..
