New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand Part 2

Published

Due to recent changes regarding applications for International nurses to Australia and the combining of the nursing boards to one central nursing board in Australia AHPRA I have started a new thread for people to discuss the new process on working in Australia.

Currently New Zealand is not accepting new applicants from International trained nurses except those that meet the Trans Tasman Mutual Recognition Agreement {TTMR} this will be updated once the New Zealand nursing board reopen their books to International nurses.

So where do you plan to take your BP then? Have you gotten your eligibility? I've gotten mine, I'm just in the look out for schools that might still have a slot for me. :)

I don't have my eligibility letter yet. I am just scouting for possible schools which have slots available

Anyone who's off to CON this September? Kindly PM me thanks..

Another road block for those wanting to be registered in NZ.

Hi Guys! After more than 1 year of processing, taking the bridging course and registration, I'm finally a registered nurse in Australia! :D Now it's time to look for a job. :D Any tips?

Congratulations! Where are you at? Your best bet is going Private at the moment. Don't go to Tas because the public hospital is in the red.

http://www.careerone.com.au is the place to go.

I wonder how are the "old forumers" doing? I kinda miss them... But I'm happy that they're already in AU. Miss you dumb, Haoyin, nykhouston!

Good luck to the 2 of you! Just finished my course at the CON. Just remember to smile all the time, be nice and corteous, but always stand up for what you believe in. I recommend you guys get a place in Burwood, NSW. Some place that is perhaps walking distance to the college, trains and buses can be expensive on top of the accommodation.

Yup, I was in the April intake of the course. I have to say, CON is stricter compared to other bridging courses, especially the ones in Victoria. (Based on what I hear from my friends who took theirs in Victoria). The good thing about CON is that it is only 2 months, plus it is 10-15 minutes away from the city - I wasn't bored at all during the course because I had a chance to tour Sydney after classes. Anyways, there were 23 students in our class, 9 were pinoy - everyone in the class was friendly and it was a good group. There is a Math Exam that you have to get 100% correct as well as an online exam for physical assessment. There are also return demonstration of clinical procedures. I don't know if anyone failed but most of us passed and are all registered now with AHPRA. :D

Goodluck Lithotomy, sweet tooth and ojos asi! :D It's better that you know who you're classmates are gonna be, I have to say - my classmates like mikyong, cerydwinRN, miks and others who I met here in this forum really helped me not to get homesick. :D
