Due to recent changes regarding applications for International nurses to Australia and the combining of the nursing boards to one central nursing board in Australia AHPRA I have started a new thread for people to discuss the new process on working in Australia.
Currently New Zealand is not accepting new applicants from International trained nurses except those that meet the Trans Tasman Mutual Recognition Agreement {TTMR} this will be updated once the New Zealand nursing board reopen their books to International nurses.

Hi everyone,
Finally got my eligibility letter from AHPRA Victoria. Whew!!! 7 months of waiting!!! The agony of not knowing when or if you would be approved was really stressful.
Anyway, I'm planning to enroll with VCHN for the Sept intake (I have a pre-approved enrollment already). But I'm also considering CON. Can anyone advise me on this?
My niece who is already working in Melbourne told me that the cost of living in Sydney is really very high. And since I'm on a tight budget, I might have a hard time with this. The VCHN tuition fee though is Au$1k more expensive than CON and it's program is longer by 2 weeks. And my niece can let me stay with her during the course (But I have to pay rent to her landlady though).
I am re sitting my IELTS end of this month because my current results will expire Sept. My niece told me that you have to have a current, valid IELTS result by the time you finish the bridging program. AHPRA will not grant you the license with an expired IELTS. And DIAC will also not grant you a working visa (once you have a job) if you have an expired IELTS result.
I'm really pouring my heart out in this review. I don't want this IELTS thing to be another obstacle to my ozzie dream (hehehehe).
Again guys, I thank you for all your support and advises. For those who still are in the process of applying, don't lose hope. There is always a light at the end of the tunnel... a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow!!! God bless everyone.

Congratulations joiemike!
No matter which BP school you decide to go, consider the expenses. And do confirm from your provider if they got your clinical placement settled and if you could start your clinicals right after your theoretical lectures, just so to avoid some delays if you're really eager to complete the course in just 2 or 2 1/2 months. if your niece really recommends you to just stay with her, bear that in mind, she knows better. Youre on the right track buddy! I hope all goes well. :)

Wow man! Congratulations!
There are other BP providers in Victoria that have 12 to 13 weeks program but also provide the takers a chance for a possible early exit in 8 or 9 weeks. For example, you can finish BP in La Trobe in 8 weeks if they assess you competent already, and you can also have an early exit with ETEA in 9 weeks. The only question is, what are the chances for that? Is it hard? Are there any members here who took their BP in this schools and finished it earlier? Please provide us with answers?
I'll be resitting my IELTS too next month. Mine expired last July 11. I was just lucky that I was able to pass my AHPRA application before it expired.:) Anyway, Goodluck to your IELTS exam and wish me luck too! hehehehe

Congrats! Whew so it's really 7 months of waiting to those who sent their applications in Vic.
I'm actually reading your previous post about your registration officer asking for additional documents like course outline and clinical placements coz I was asked the same too. I'm about to send the additional documents today after almost 3 weeks of requesting such from my school. I hope I won't have problems after this. By the way, was that the last email you got before you receive your eligibility letter? Thanks!
Congratulations joiemike!![]()

Thanks mikyong. I'll definitely keep your advise in mind.

Thanks mookieblack. There are only a few schools like vchn and con that offer the bridging course within this year. The others you mentioned are having their intakes next year yet. I would have loved to enroll with La Trobe or other Unis. But I don't want to wait for next year. I'm not getting any younger and I am not sure that the job prospects next year will be better. The sooner I get my license the sooner I can start scouting for jobs. I hope my 20 months work experience in the ER will be good enough for me to land a hospital job.
Good luck in your IELTS test.

No. I got an email from my registration officer about the change of mailing address I requested. Then, she emailed me again that my application was for Board deliberation on the 7th of July to check the credited subjects from my previous course. It really is more tedious to apply as a 2nd courser because they have to check your previous course even if it is totally unrelated to nursing. You also have to submit course descriptions and separate transcript. Anyway, it's all water under the bridge already and am just really glad to have hurdled another obstacle. I still have to re apply for NBI clearance, pay the tuition fee, get medicals, and apply for visa. I just hope there won't be any more hitches.

Congratulations joiemike! I remembered you last night and included you in my prayers, I'm happy you finally got your eligibility letter. By the way, I waited for 8 months. So yeah, to everyone who's still waiting, just keep your hopes high and pray harder than ever. I also have to re-sit my IELTS really soon. Good luck to us! :)
