Due to recent changes regarding applications for International nurses to Australia and the combining of the nursing boards to one central nursing board in Australia AHPRA I have started a new thread for people to discuss the new process on working in Australia.
Currently New Zealand is not accepting new applicants from International trained nurses except those that meet the Trans Tasman Mutual Recognition Agreement {TTMR} this will be updated once the New Zealand nursing board reopen their books to International nurses.

HelloI am in this sort of dilemma. I applied for AHPRA last May, 2011 and at that same month I received a letter from Otago for an offer of place in NZ however I have already submitted my application to AHPRA. I informed AHPRA that I would like to withdraw my application and they even suggested to continue my application with NZ instead and later on transfer to OZ since it requires less paperwork and money that way. But to my dismay I am now faced with huge charges on my credit card for the AHPRA application. Has anyone tried to ask a refund from AHPRA? Please do share your experience.
I am in a sorta hopeless situation because my credit card company has not delivered my bill for two months and has not informed me of my dues therefore I incurred a huge amount of interest for not paying on time, which is in fact due to their own mishap.
i think a portion of the charges are refundable while the other part is not.. better contact AHPRA for your request..
errr, you may not pay your credit card if you decide not to pay..
AHPRA emailed me to call this number if I would like to inquire about my registration status : 1300 419 495.........but in their website it is stated that for overseas calls this following number should be called: +61 3 8708 9001so which is which?
try dialling 1300419495.... then try the other number...
Good day! I would like to inquire regarding Statutory Declaration fir Ahpra application? Is it needed or is the NBI Clearance equivalent to this already?
Statutory Declaration (Australia) = Affidavit (Philippines)..... Affidavit of Loss, Affidavit of Support, Affidavit of Desistancet, etc. etc..
For criminal history or "police" clearance requirement, use NBI CLEARANCE (not police clearance)..
get ielts with score of 7 in each band.. if assuming (for the sake of argument) that AHPRA will register you as RN using just "english certification" then so be it, but then again please do not expect Aussie immigration dept. to grant you work visa if you do not have 7 ielts..do not expect ielts to be easy here in oz.. it's a lot challenging here than in phils..
consultancy may say (and let's assume it is true for discussion purposes) that you only need "english certification", yeah right, but then again come visa time, you need the 7 ielts..
so, that's the whole picture, take the calculated risk if you like, it's you're call, at least we inform you (that is if you are reading this)..
nonetheless, i hope i am wrong so that many will benefit (that is, no need for taking ielts)..
for registration, licensure or membership purposes, you need the required ielts score to be granted that registration. but for migration purposes like 457 working visa or EN/RSMS, the required ielts score is lower. check diac website

if what you are saying is true and correct (particularly "for migration purposes ...IELTS"), then i am glad that i am wrong.. but i did read that diac rule, and there is a clause that said as an exception that if the regulatory agency of your profession requires 7 ielts for registration purposes then automatically the diac will require you to have 7 ielts, otherwise diac will require lower ielts (for other professions).. unfortunately, ahpra requires 7 ielts..
moreover, for EN(ENS), a 1-year old IELTS is required (not the 2-year old expiry rule)..
unless, diac changed the rules recently which i may not have able to read, one thing though, changes goes stricter instead of being lenient...
nonethless, i would be glad if i am wrong because it would be in my favor if i am wrong..
Today, had direct word from AHPRA, all international applicants must show english in IELTS 7 or the OET test? No BP provider should be excepting students without this criteria from AHPRA.
Those who are international students that are in Australia and have done secondary and university here in Australia can get certification, along with those from selected english as first speaking countries, ie uk usa canada, south africa etc. Phillipines is not one of those countries as english is not first language.
Therefore if you hear otherwise is a porky.:)
I would say if you are applying without this requirements application will go on back burner.
hello everyone, i passed my application last june 24 at WA. hope i can hear from those who passed within the same time frame for any progress. like markgian and trixi24. :) thank you! let's pray for everyone. :)
hi good day! yeah we hope that our applications will be okey despite of those things that have been mentioned earlier.... have faith guys!:) (to: babsinc na markgian)
to trixie:
i had a first hand info regarding the pending documents for initial asessment ( ex. is IELTS) should you submit your application lacking those requirements as what is posted on the checklist of AGOS 04, WA will just give you 1 month to comply with the outstanding documents, should you fail to comply, they will scrap your application. better hurry up in taking the IELTS.
