New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand Part 2

Published

Due to recent changes regarding applications for International nurses to Australia and the combining of the nursing boards to one central nursing board in Australia AHPRA I have started a new thread for people to discuss the new process on working in Australia.

Currently New Zealand is not accepting new applicants from International trained nurses except those that meet the Trans Tasman Mutual Recognition Agreement {TTMR} this will be updated once the New Zealand nursing board reopen their books to International nurses.

Kind regards,

Hello, I just want to ask how much would be the total Registration Fee for AHPRA? Do I need to pay the Overseas assessment charge of AUD$220 or do I just need to pay AUD$115 for the Application for General Registration? Thanks.

im really very curious.. they all should have same term of eligibility (i.e. 2 years).. makes me wonder..

that's what ive thought too..apparently WA is still different..WA was the last state which joined ahpra right? i've seen the WA eligibility letter and its really for 2years unlike in Victoria..tsktsk..o well some applicants might as well grab this opportunity now before aphra decides to make it a year like others..this WA option is good especially if you still doesnt have the budget for the BP..

Been following this thread for a couple of months... I'm not a newly grad though I do not have experience in PI but I have 3 years experience in the liver transplant unit abroad... is it more advisable to apply for immigration and have anmc assess my credentials than go through aphra?

It's best you read the past posts of this thread. It's been discussed earlier. However, for me it's best for you to apply for registration with ahpra. anmc is an assessing body for immigration purposes. But you still have to be registered with ahpra for you to be licensed to practice as RN in ozzie. ahpra is like our prc here in the phils. If I'm not mistaken, it's cheaper to go thru ahpra first before you have your assessment with anmc. Why don't you check anmc and ahpra websites for more info? All the necessary infos are there.:D

Thanks mikejoie, i've read those sites before.... am just a bit confused coz i received an email from doh and advised me to submit my papers to anmac (migration skills assessment)... then aphra (for a conditional registration)... then bp school... then australian immigration... so i guess these steps should be what non-newly grads should follow... what you think?

Most of the forumers here go thru ahpra 1st for registration. after you get your eligibility from ahpra, you undergo bp for about 3 months. Then you are registered as div 1 nurse in Aus. You apply for a job with employers. When you get accepted, your employer will sponsor you for a working visa. After about 1 or 2 years, you can apply for permanent residency. That's when you go thru anmc for assessement for immigration purposes. The anmc process will be shorter, cheaper, and faster because you are already registered with ahpra and presently living and working in Aus already. At least this is what my niece has done and what i am doing also.

You can also go thru anmc first. It's really up to you. There are many ways to kill a cat. :lol2:
