Due to recent changes regarding applications for International nurses to Australia and the combining of the nursing boards to one central nursing board in Australia AHPRA I have started a new thread for people to discuss the new process on working in Australia.
Currently New Zealand is not accepting new applicants from International trained nurses except those that meet the Trans Tasman Mutual Recognition Agreement {TTMR} this will be updated once the New Zealand nursing board reopen their books to International nurses.

Part 1 thread New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand - Nursing for Nurses
@ cioman & ceridwynThanks again fellows. I'm already here in Au and a PR. So dies it mean have to go back to Phil just to gain a 3 months experience. Ohmy! So for short pass the ielts first n gain 3 months experience.
I cannot see anywhere on the form for international applicant that you must have done 3 months work.
To stay registered here you must do the equivalant of 3 months work in 5 years, if you have not been qualified for 5 years then this is not possible. If you finsihed your education more than 5 years ago then yes. you need to have done 3 months in that time.
So personally I would have my assessment done by AHPRA her is the website click on pdf file for overseas nurses

read it, just tick the boxes to say you have graduated more than 1 year ago and do not attach any work if you have not done...and see what happens. It will cost you say 400.00 You really need to get the IELTS though you cannot enrol in university course for nursing without 7 in IELTS now and if PR you can do not have to pay tuition to Latrobe or Deakin or any public university if you need to do further study or the bridging course.
The bridging course at these unis are for nurses that have not practised for 5 years or more as well, so I do not see what the difference would be....if you are an os nurse with no experience in 3 years...
just got my visa today whilst lurking on this forum. I only applied last tuesday but it's quite disappointing, same with liaa, my visa is only valid for a single travel...anyho, my BP is pushing through... see you soon CON classmates. I pray for the best.
that's fine mikyong! we'll only be needing the single entry anyway! 457 na agad yan after! haha. (thinking positive)
anyway, let's just all hope for the best and see you in CON on April 27. Let's all pass that course with flying colours.
Hello every1 :) i liked the forum. i did read it a couple times already but i haven't finished it yet... its very LONG but quite informative.
he he he:) im michelle, im jst a newbie in this forum. I hope I can also go to Aus soon like many ppl here in the forum. I will need all sorts of help here. :)
Pls pls help me answer some of the AGOS-04 q's:
Q. 10 What type of registration are you applying for?
Please mark all that are applicable to your application:
Gen. Reg.
RN
EN
RM
*** Can I pick RN & RM if I am RN-RM? Will it complicate my application
making the fees more expensive paying for both nurse and midwife?
or make the BP/ education (in AUS) different?
Q. 11 & 12
Can you share your answers/sample answers in Q 11 & 12? Where did you put your school info, if you're 2nd courser, did you include your 1st course? If you are a CGFNS & NCLEX passer what is the general format of your answers/did you include it?
Q. 13
Did you guys actually asked your employer to sign your cv (is it the present/last employer only or all your employers ? were those who didn't do this dissaproved?
How did you explain yours gaps from nursing registration up to working? If you reviewed NLE or study for foreign exams, take an IT course or etc, will you need a letter to explain this? or do you need letter from your review centers or non -nursing institution or from a lawyer certifying these gaps? do i have to provide receipts to prove this?
Q. 16
In certifying that your 2ndary education & nursing program was taught in english, do you request this from the school or you need a lawyer to make a letter? do you send this together with your application form or have the school send this to ahpra??
:) hope to hear from the forumers!! hehehe
If you have not completed a 12-18 months midwifery course on top of a bachelor of nursing course or completed a 3 year bachelor of midwifery, then you do not qualify to apply as a Midwife. check out the AHPRA website.
You must pass IELTS at all round 7 unless educated in english in english speaking country on the website it explains, UK, Canada, NZ, US, and a few others.
