Due to recent changes regarding applications for International nurses to Australia and the combining of the nursing boards to one central nursing board in Australia AHPRA I have started a new thread for people to discuss the new process on working in Australia.
Currently New Zealand is not accepting new applicants from International trained nurses except those that meet the Trans Tasman Mutual Recognition Agreement {TTMR} this will be updated once the New Zealand nursing board reopen their books to International nurses.

Part 1 thread New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand - Nursing for Nurses
I personally chose Diploma of Children's Services with the consent of my parents, relatives, immigration lawyer & IDP. So I guess I'm in the right path, full of hopes & prayers! Thanks for the info's!
then, you're alryt.. and you still have an open option to obtain nursing registration in Australia if you are still interested later (which i think you should be because i reckon you will be).. cheers!
hi=) im a registered nurse midwife in the philippines. . . im planning to take business course or IT course in australia. .. .do you think its a good choice???? im after the permanent residency,,some told me that as long as you finished 2yrs course you are eligible to apply for permanent residency...is this true?
i'll go for a course where you gain a unique skill which will make you employable... business "diploma" course?? anyone can do clerical job, a Australian high school grad can do that job...
immigration rules change a lot in Australia.. play it safe, better consult a migration agent on your question.. we know that RNs who got Australian registration can file for PR.. that's all that we are very sure of.. we have mix opinions regarding diploma course graduate, we have doubts therefore..
Hello every1 :) i liked the forum. i did read it a couple times already but i haven't finished it yet... its very LONG but quite informative.he he he:) im michelle, im jst a newbie in this forum. I hope I can also go to Aus soon like many ppl here in the forum. I will need all sorts of help here. :)
Pls pls help me answer some of the AGOS-04 q's:
Q. 10 What type of registration are you applying for?
Please mark all that are applicable to your application:
Gen. Reg.
RN
EN
RM
*** Can I pick RN & RM if I am RN-RM? Will it complicate my application
making the fees more expensive paying for both nurse and midwife?
or make the BP/ education (in AUS) different?
Q. 11 & 12
Can you share your answers/sample answers in Q 11 & 12? Where did you put your school info, if you're 2nd courser, did you include your 1st course? If you are a CGFNS & NCLEX passer what is the general format of your answers/did you include it?
Q. 13
Did you guys actually asked your employer to sign your cv (is it the present/last employer only or all your employers ? were those who didn't do this dissaproved?
How did you explain yours gaps from nursing registration up to working? If you reviewed NLE or study for foreign exams, take an IT course or etc, will you need a letter to explain this? or do you need letter from your review centers or non -nursing institution or from a lawyer certifying these gaps? do i have to provide receipts to prove this?
Q. 16
In certifying that your 2ndary education & nursing program was taught in english, do you request this from the school or you need a lawyer to make a letter? do you send this together with your application form or have the school send this to ahpra??
:) hope to hear from the forumers!! hehehe
if some of your questions are not yet answered still, just re-post it so that others may be able to answer them.. cheers!
I didn't have any midwifery course just as you say...I just took the Midwifery Board Exam... hehehehe I think I'll just pick one then.. RN. :) Tnx ceridwyn!Guess for Q 13, whether we like it or not we have to have it signed.
Only Q 11, 12 & 16 left for public opinion now.
Q13.. try to have it signed.. but i would not be surprised if some applicants could not be able to have it signed.. there have been different answers to this question.. good luck..
ahmm. . . what's the problem in choosing diploma in nursing???? I conform that diploma of children's services is a good choice too. . .
diploma of nursing, you are shooting your own foot, you're enrolling to become an Enrolled Nurse, which in effect you are "admitting" that you're RN education is no good for Australian registration.. it is like admitting to a crime of murder when you can say it is just self defense.. choose other course, then later on work-out the nursing registration requirement to become RN..
well one's an accountant and the other's a nurse. but the nurse won't be added to our long line, she's taking up medicine this coming school year (lucky girl, ..and lucky us. hehe. ).. she's pretty much just sleeping during the day and partying all night. She owes me a few favors so it wont be a problem. just give me the heads up :)
hahaha thank you so much sweet brother! i'll keep this in mind! =)

Sayico, may i ask if you've tried taking ielts again? With more and more hunger for the TBS of 7 or even higher? You are a nurse, having more than a year of experience in Riyadh and the only thing stopping you from becoming an Au nurse as soon as possible is your TBS of 6 and Yourself.
Reasons why you should take ielts again:
1. i found out there were quite a Lot who took the ielts twice and thrice --even 5times already!
2.There are a number of active members and wannabes on this forum who doesn't have the experience you have under your belt.
3.Ceridwyn gave you paragraph after paragraph of reasons and explanations why you shouldN'T consider going for a diploma course.
4.There's again cioman who also cited why it's absurd that you complicate life when you can enjoy it by simply choosing a simplified path.
5.Last--if you choose to go for your diploma, by the time you graduate I will an Au Nurse already as well as those just lurking here and reading posts after posts (maybe a hundred of them, based on the views this forum gets.) And get this, I haven't even started processing my papers yet!
Me in your place: present predicament: TBS of 6. I need at least TBS 7. What will i do? (this is me if utilizing ielts review centers is Not enough. )
1.I'll go to the vendors across prc, buy All ielts review materials as mentioned by others.
2.For writing task 2, i'll read editotial pages of the newspaper. Old and new. Editorial pages have the format prescribed by British Council. Not enough? Read journals.
3.For speaking, i'll speak to everybody --and i mean Everybody in English. Furnish my vocabulary each day. And of course regardless of how many times i explain why i need to converse in English, some will still be annoyed. But do i care? Nope, because i Need to pass my upcoming ielts exam, pass BP and become an AURN before flymeherethere and the hundreds lurking does.
4.Not enough? I'll go to St. Jude every Thursday and every(Friday?) to Quiapo and pray to the Black Nazarene for spiritual Help. Unless, you're not a catholic.
5.Failed again? Solution: take the exam again. By the third time you take it, if you're really putting in your hundred percent each time, you'll ace it then. And i bet 6mos from now you'll pass the ielts if you set your heart to it.:heartbeat
BUt, it's still your Choice.
