Due to recent changes regarding applications for International nurses to Australia and the combining of the nursing boards to one central nursing board in Australia AHPRA I have started a new thread for people to discuss the new process on working in Australia.
Currently New Zealand is not accepting new applicants from International trained nurses except those that meet the Trans Tasman Mutual Recognition Agreement {TTMR} this will be updated once the New Zealand nursing board reopen their books to International nurses.

the P100 per page certification fee is a reasonable price... but for example if you have a document with 3 pages like TOR, you can haggle for a discounted price of instead paying P300 perhaps P150 because it is same document anyway.. in my case, it is P100 per DOCUMENT, irregardles of the number of pages of certain document, thus my TOR was just charge as P100..
I had mine at P50 per document! Paid over a P1000 for the 27 documents..
Hmmmm. About notarization of documents. If I may just suggest everyone to go to their respective municipal hall/city hall and look for any government official's office with notary public. My experience with one councilor (Lawyer) is that, his group notarized our PRC CASES (if you can remember that) all for FREE! I guess because we were still students by that time. But yes, saved a lot. And the news scattered around the university and many went to him, even non-residents.
Also, when I was preparing my documents for another country and I need my school and other related papers to be notarized I went to another councilor with notary public since I cannot find the office of the first one. They only asked 100 PESOS for ALL the documents.
Our government officials can aid us in simple ways. Use their service! We voted for them.
for those who are new here, this is just a friendly advice, it is to your benefit that once you "get in" this thread, then continue to read the thread and do not miss any page even if you will not post anything.. you better take my advice seriously for your own good (not mine).. ive seen the best and worst here, ive been involved with the best and worst here, it is really for your own benefit not to miss reading any page when you "get in".. a good example is the recent posts that AHPRA is still evaluating her/his application because of the concern raised on his/her nursing school.. that's an important update, if some of us here will not be able to read that, sorry..another thing, many times i have posted here and warned anyone who is in the philippines yet but was approved of 457 visa, he/she must obtain OEC.. my new colleague RN is a good example for this because she did not know about it, and so everything was set, she was already in NAIA, then you know what happen, she cannot go! must have OEC.. so if nobody bother to read that page about OEC here in this thread.. sorry.. it may happen to him/her what happened to my colleage RN now..
i just hope i got my point across.. cheers!
Hi cioman,
I kind of missed the thread about OEC. What is that?
Hi cioman,I kind of missed the thread about OEC. What is that?
case #1.. me.... never been in australia, lived in the phils., applied online for job in australia, hired, process my 457 visa (while still in phils.), approved 457 released, MUST GO to POEA to get OEC document.. because i cannot go out of the airport/country without that..
case #2.. my colleague RN, studied BP in Australia using student visa (or 456 visa or tourist visa).. finished BP, applied and hired as RN, applied for 457 while in Australia, THE THING is while 457 was still in process she went home in the phils., then while in the phils., her 457 visa was approved.. she bought ticket and confidently went to airport presenting his 457 visa, that's it, cannot go out, she has no OEC..
case#3 you finished your BP, you find job, AND YOU NEVER went home, thus your 457 visa was released while in Australia, then of course no need of OEC because you are already in Australia..
case # 4 which all of you should remember (and don't blame anyone if you do not read this post as ive already gave a warning in the previous post), if i who is a 457 visa holder, will go home for vacation in the phils. then i must still get again a new OEC so that i will not be stopped in NAIA when i go back to Australia.. (if you are a PR, student visa, 456, tourist visa then you do not need this OEC).. this is clear to everybody, i hope so, and remember this post when you go back home for vacation if you are still on 457 visa..
what's OEC, read POEA for complete info.. any clarification about it, then post question then, after reading POEA..
cheers!

generally speaking, nothing specific about ahpra or what, just generally speaking, if anyone would like to send "certified" documents to a very important office for a very important transaction, i suggest you have it notarized in a law office which could easily be contacted..
i had my documents notarized in the law office whose staff/lawyer personally know me so that if (by random reasons) the nursing board staff will call and check my documents they can easily contact my lawyer/law office.. i purposely never went to the cheapest esp. that gov't lawyers in the hall for fear that they may not be contacted by the nursing board staff if they do check my documents.. i just wanna be sure about my applications, so i had it that way..
so, that's my personal choice, at least i did slept well at night knowing that my lawyer/law office could easily be contacted if they will contacted by the nsg board staff.. you know, you have to establish really the authenticity of your documents, imagine if staff will contact your lawyer and could not becontacted or the lawyer does not remember you..
but it's a personal choice, it's each one's decision.. me i just want to cover all bases so to speak and sleep well at night..
cheers!
hi official02..
i submitted the usual documents..TOR, Syllabus with Course descriptions as was supposedly required by the nursing council of nz since I got those documents from my school for the purpose of applying to NZ Nursing Council but because at that time they weren't accepting any foreign applicants, I decided to shift my interest to Australia. I figured they had a similar educational standard.
However, quite a few of my schoolmates have passed nursing council (NZ) assessment which is why I was confident with my school and never thought it would be an issue when I submitted my docs to AHPRA. Because of the email i received yesterday, I have decided to "move on" and go back to NZ this July to take up Graduate Diploma in Infection Control. I have also lodged my application with NZ Nursing Council so that I can take the bridging program once I finish the graduate diploma since they give priority to previously enrolled students of their schools.
OEC: overseas employment certificate?
AHPRA didn't call my lawyer and chief nurse to check my documents. does AHPRA have the budget for overseas calls?
i wish it was april 27 already so i can do the bridging program while i'm still feeling excited! i don't want to be overpowered with nervousness again!

You're not continuing with Australia for the moment? I have sent you a PM. Thank you.

Did I really read 1,730 posts before me with all the links and other related information? Wow!!! That was more than one day. Information overload but certainly it helped me clarify some things which were foreign to me before. It pays to read. Kudos to all the posters here especially to CIOMAN94 who seems to have mastered the art and to CERIDWYN (you're Australian, right?).
The recent posts about HAYDEETING is alarming and and is vital to talk about before I and others go with our first step.
Is this an isolated case? It seems from the post that the problem is about EDUCATION. Does this happen after a board meeting or any resolution? Will this this be the first (on record) of many others that will come in the future?
Again, is this just an isolated case because according to HAYDEETING, his/her school is just new?
HAYDEETING, can we compare notes? Your transcripts with mine and with others? What school documents did you submit to AHPRA? Perhaps from there, we can point out the differences.
I hope someone can enlighten us. I don't want to fail from this in the middle of the application. I recently experienced modification of rules by a regulatory body from another country without any prior notice at all and even allowance and I was severely affected by it.
Thank you.
