New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand Part 2

Published

Due to recent changes regarding applications for International nurses to Australia and the combining of the nursing boards to one central nursing board in Australia AHPRA I have started a new thread for people to discuss the new process on working in Australia.

Currently New Zealand is not accepting new applicants from International trained nurses except those that meet the Trans Tasman Mutual Recognition Agreement {TTMR} this will be updated once the New Zealand nursing board reopen their books to International nurses.

Part 1 thread New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand - Nursing for Nurses

I'm just confused about AHPRA form under question #19 it states :

Which of the following have you completed?

option 1: Practised the profession while registered within the past five

years for a period equivalent to a minimum of three months full

time

option 2: Successfully completed a program or course approved by the

Board within the last five years for the purpose of re-entry to

practice

option 3: Successfully completed a supervised practice experience

approved by the Board within the last five years.

Which option would fit me? I only have 2 months full time training in a tertiary hospital. Do i need to earn more experience?

thankz in advance!

Dear Cioman, apparently all new staff to NSW health, need to prove vaccination to TB and clear x-ray plus all current vaccinations, heard this from someone who moved there recently and applied successfully to a public hospital. So not just students......and how is it all going living in Australia?

yes, that requirement, that's why when i was still job-hunting, i was really researching about nsw vaccination rules if just in case i will be hired by NSW health then i would be able to comply... apparently, the vaccination rules/memo also covers students who will have placements in public hospital, consequently, CON BP students should know how to comply said requirement...

im doing fine, still in the learning curve, hope to peak up soon... thanks for your usual assistance... at this stage, im already planning my next future career moves (and next place to "finally" settle/reside)..

Do I have to send my Certificate of Passing aside from Certificate of Good Standing? I think that's what my case manager is trying to tell me... hmmm..

Hello, I'm going to apply for a student visa to study the bridging program.. Since the bridging program is non-award, s the Non Award Sector: Temporary Visa (Subclass 575) Assessment Level 2 right visa to apply? and AUD550 is right fee for the student visa?

Will greatly appreciate all the help.. Thanks in advance..

wow, this is new information for me.. if im going to read the information in DIAC, then you are correct... pay additional $75 if you wanna have work permit (that's what the website said)..

hope those with ACTUAL experience of processing student visa could also answer your question..

Queensland just had a cyclone. And they're devastated.. AGAIN. Hope all is well with the other states. And i think autumn is nearing already coz the weather is changing bit by bit everyday.

which reminds me, townsville, cairns, mackay (all in queensland) are among the places i wanna work and applied for work.. nobody hired me, now i understand, it's for my own good.. of course, i wish all the best for all queenslanders...

Do I have to send my Certificate of Passing aside from Certificate of Good Standing? I think that's what my case manager is trying to tell me... hmmm..

1) as you already know, normally they require PRC certificate of registration (that diploma look-alike document) as a proof that you are a RN in the philippines, then the Cert. of good standing to prove you are not suspended/cancelled..

2) what specifically the case manager said?? im just curious too because this would be the first time ive heard they will require a certificate of passing which you can get too, that's easy to get..

3) if you havent requested/submitted yet the cert. of good standing, then better get that cert. of passing and send them altogether, di ba..

Yeah. And they said it would almost take queensland 3 years to get up and start working again. They were really devastated with the effects left by cyclone yasi. i was thinking why of all states was queensland the more prone to cyclone now.

Well I didnt have to choose among those 3 options because i just graduated not more than 12 months ago. but if you did graduate more than 12 months ago, i think the best option there is option 1 even if it doesnt sum up to 3 month full time? pls post the question to cioman. i really dont know a thing.

i am a newly registered nurse in the philippines last oct 2010. there's a new policy now that the passers of the july or december takers can get their PRC certificate of registration after 1 year they have passed because of the big deal of passers every year. so instead my sister advised me to just submit to ahpra my certificate of good standing, certificate of passing and certification of board rating as a proof i am a registered nurse already. hope i helped.

Because it is the rainy season and tropical cyclone season and North Queensland is in the tropical zone above the tropic of cancer, while all the southern states are not:confused:

Oh that's why. It's good that we're on the southern part of australia. :)

sorry i overlook to answer your questions earlier, late reply now..

1) AHPRA will not require a "new graduate" about experience.. new graduate means those who graduated 2 years ago from the date AHPRA received your application for registration.. today is February 2011, you will only belong to this group if you graduated last November 2009 and send your AHPRA application before November 2011 (2 year period).. if you graduated last March 2009, and you will send AHPRA application after March 2011, then you are beyond the 2 year rule..

2) to simplify things, get that 3 month full time nursing experience they require, to make your life easy.. thus, you now comply with the 3 months "recency" of experience in the last 5 years..
