Hi everyone, please help me.
I graduated last march 2007 here in the Philippines and I have my license here already.
Because of oversupply of nurses here, it's too difficult to find a job.
That's why I'm looking forward to working in Australia or New Zealand.
However, I'm confused. Esp about Australia.
I already have my bachelors degree here.
When I go there in Aus to work as RN, must I take a diploma in nursing first? can I work while studying?
After obtaining my diploma there, am I already a registered nurse?
Thank you!
:icon_rollHi Aelith,Can you help me on this? I'm looking for a university/college in NSW that offers a bridging course for nurses. Preferably near Campsie. I already found one The College of Nursing, is it good there? What other universities or colleges that have a bridging course? and lastly, what are the usual requirements and fees?
Thanks a lot!!!:heartbeat
The College of Nursing in Burwood is really near Campsie As far as I know, the College of Nursing is the only one that gives the assessment program for NSW and the only one I know near Campsie. But I have to double check but if you are after the ones near Campsie then the College of Nursing in Burwood is the best choice. One of the main requirements is the letter coming from NMB of NSW therefore, you will have to apply for registration first. The current fee is 7000 AUD.
I hope that helps. :)
As much as I want to join you guys in that seminar, I'm afraid I just can't. boohoo! Anyway, I hope those who will attend the expo and the seminar can share whatever information they will get there here.
I know it's kinda frustrating that you need to shell out lots of money just so you can go out of the country especially when the main reason why we all want to get out is because it's just so hard to get a decent pay more so, a job in the Philippines. That's what I want to find out, if there is any, a cheaper alternative for the others. But with all honesty, it would really be hard to go abroad, anywhere for that matter, without shelling out a huge amount of cash. However, I'll still try, hopefully I'll come across one. Keep your fingers crossed.

i agree.. and hope they would share any new stuff from the expo..
just a reminder:
AUD$ 7000 at College of Nursing, Burwood.. dats for year 2008.. note that enrolment/reservations are around 6 months in advance.. Thus, if somebody would enrol now, he she would be reserved for next year's class, and next year's tuition fee is already increased to AUD$ 10,000.. Im not kidding ($10,000 x P40 = P400,000 tuition fee ALONE)..
@ aelith, pardon my ignorancei checked the griffith site again and found the graduate entry strand that you were talking about...
sorry again...
anyway, so their semester starts in january... i guess i'm running out of time to be able to enroll for yr 2009... oh well... thanks your informing me.

hey cioman94!
i'm sorry but i also really don't know where to get some review materials for cas. i will probably read saunders and other review books that i have plus the funda nursing books from my school days.
plus i will ask my friend who happens to own an agency and i think they provide review materials for australia bound nurses who hire their services.
hth
p.s. i will let you know once i decide to take the challenge tests.
Just a reminder:
The review materials you'll need for the CAS program is not the same materials you used for NCLEX/NLE - some generic/basic nursing information only will be useful. Some topics included in the exam are specifically for Australian practice which you have to review too. The subjects that is included in the Part A exam are listed in the following website:
http://cas.cqu.edu.au/FCWViewer/view...LvpAe?page=653
Anyway, should you fail the exam, you will be asked to complete certain theoretical modules. You will then need to pass those to be able to proceed to Part B.

Thank you cooldread.. as what aelith mentioned, there are peculiar subjects that we must study for that challenge tests besides the usual nursing subjects.. in due time, hope you would give us information by then what "australian" nursing books to read for reviewing the CAS..
have a nice weekend to all..:)

pixie_chum:
