Hi everyone, please help me.
I graduated last march 2007 here in the Philippines and I have my license here already.
Because of oversupply of nurses here, it's too difficult to find a job.
That's why I'm looking forward to working in Australia or New Zealand.
However, I'm confused. Esp about Australia.
I already have my bachelors degree here.
When I go there in Aus to work as RN, must I take a diploma in nursing first? can I work while studying?
After obtaining my diploma there, am I already a registered nurse?
Thank you!
Hi there Angel, I have made a reservation for my Ielts exam by Aug. hopefully it will be "brighter" by that time.I'm on my 6th month working in the hospital. I also favor Aelith's suggestion for you about the National Registration. Just keep on going with your plan sis, we are all here for you, to help you in pursuing your goal. Coz I'm sure you'll be very busy after you have the local license. Good luck & God bless you always.
Wow, Sis! Best of luck to you! Go, go!!! You can do it!!! And thanks for the kind words, not only to you, but to everyone else; not only from me, but from everyone else. This "community's like a family! :)
Thanks, thanks chabeli! How's your application going? You're the one who's going there with your girlfriend, aren't you? Good luck and God bless!
I'm still waiting for my assessment letter frm the NBV. yes, i wanted to bring her but i think she's just going to go for 10 days now. She wants to stay in her job now so that just in case, im not able to get a sponsor right away within my timeframe, then we are not in a bad position... no blaming , hahahaha... God bless you too, Angel...may all our plans succeed according to God's plans.
Hello Chabeli,1) Pls check the current policy of NBV regarding license expiry date.. Example, some nursing board have their expiry fixed for all RNs in October of every year, therefore if you are granted license in June then it will expire on October of the same year, of course your license fee is prorated June-October.. Thus, check NBV's policy so that you will have an idea of when is the expected expiry of your license.
Should you get your license in April 2010, and assuming it will expire January 2011, then it will be effective and recognized until January 2011, hence you can continue to practice as RN. As ive mentioned then, just double check what will be the new policies on license renewal vis-a-vis your January 2011 license expiry..
2) National Registration: there will be a new nursing board (nationiwide in scope) which i think woud be called Midwifery and Nursing Board of Australia. It will handle all matters regarding the profession including the assessment, evaluation, processing, renewal and approval of nursing licenses.
The ANMC's function will remain the same which is in relation to migration assessment processing of midwives and nurses. The difference is that ANMC will no longer deal with various nursing boards but with one nursing board in July 2010.
We hope everything will go on as what you have planned. Good Luck!
Thanks for all the info, cioman...appreciate it all... hoping for the best for all of us.
I understand the feeling, however, I think what everyone should keep in mind is that those changes are for the benefit of Australia's citizens/needs and not for those hoping to migrate. I always expect the worse and hope for the best because I know that chances are, it will almost always be hard for people like me who are just trying to get into the Country. With the current crisis in the economy, changes of current policies are inclined to protect the Country's own people. I do hope though, that things will still be alright later on. I am really worried and that is why I am always looking for back up plans just in case things won't go as smooth for me.
That makes the two of us Aelith, I have plan B and plan C ready for the worst scenario. Good luck and sure God will see us with our true heart, and true intentions. :redbeathe
