New Fiscal Year Decisions

Published

I just found out that options for new nurses has closed for FY11. The Army is no longer going to have the RN to BSN STRAP program. They are no longer going to accept new grads or 66H without a critical care identifier. I never realized in a million years that the Army would be over capacity for RNs.

so i'm hoping that she was right, that the ones that are still on here will hopefully reap the rewards of ultimately being the ones to get selected!

here, sir! i was going to respond in another thread and call roll but everyone seems to feel safe and secure enough to sound-off on this one.

i think that was mbarn08 who said that. i hope she's right!

me too!! :D

i keep adding more junk to my resume in the meantime. now i've signed up for an nrp course in october!

that is a good idea. we have two months until boards, it cannot hurt to update a few things on my end a well. by the way, i just got a new recruiter because my old one moved to a different state. i suppose now someone will have my old one. he was good. i hope my new one is good too.

sad, huh? this process is taking sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo long that my recruiter got new duty station orders!!! how many people who were enlisted or commission years ago can say they started and finished with two different recruiters other then us??? i'm adapting and overcoming. go army! :D

It has been my experience that when you are dealing with the government, you will have a lot of the run around and confusion. There is a lot of red tape and a lot of "hurry up and wait."

There is a board that meets on September 7th to discuss the current year. The board meets in November to discuss fiscall year 2011. Hope this helps.

Mine is pending as well. Has been for a while. My recruiter said they're either still working on it, or they forgot they were working on it, or they forgot to post the approval. She's expecting some results any day now.

All encouraging (not!), as we all know.

Hang in there, Lunah, and keep us posted!

i went through two recruiters, and i'm air force. if you happen to start the process with someone who's at the end of their tour, it's inevitable.

it's far from helpful, mind, regardless of the branch of service....

Yep, that's what I heard -- November 16 for the board. :) Thanks for the info!!

It's all good. Seeing signs of autumn here (my favorite season!!), so in the meantime, "here" isn't a bad place to be. I went into this knowing it would take at least this long! Good thing I grew up around the military/government -- I know how things roll. :D Thanks!!

Working with my second recruiter now too (or is it the third:confused:)... I have to say that sometimes that is not a bad thing. Recruiters can tend to get the "short-timer's" attitude toward the end of their tour. I have had much better response from the new recruiter...seems to have a fresh outlook on his job ;)

Of course none of this helps with the waiting for boards!! :uhoh3::uhoh3::uhoh3:

thanks, lifeafter40 and happy labor day! my new recruiter was out of town last week so i have not had a chance to introduce myself over the phone. the positive part is that i believe i have alredy met this particular recruiter in-person this past summer. hopefully i will have just as much success as you with a new recruiter.

for those of us seeking m5 we have to wait until november, from what i have been told as of last week. however, other identifiers such as ob, pacu, nicu may still be open. of course, i was given the latter information this past spring and thus it is out-of-date.
