Never wear black scrubs.

Unless you're a private duty nurse and you KNOW you won't be working with Vietnam vets, the segment of the veteran population most likely to have PTSD. That is all.

Um.....what? Why do you care what color scrubs I wear, regardless of my patient population? I don't wear black because I have a white dog.

I'm confused, can you elaborate?

Black "pajamas" were the Vietcong uniform.

An excellent heads up! Few people can get that connection. Have you read "Up Country" by Nelson DeMille? Great insights into Vets with PTSD.

Per our staff "dress code" (ugh), our ER docs wear black scrubs. Have yet to see an issue. Unfortunately, you will never find a color that is not a trigger for some segment of the population.

I know a hospital's ER "dress code" is black scrubs; it is not my local VA though.

I do agree there are some segments of the population that will get "triggered"; I am sure there are some instances where those triggers can be minimized.

Our entire nurse staff at the hospital wears black scrubs, mandated by policy. Whoops.

I'm wearing black tonight. Never had a problem with it.

In the hospital system I used to work for, staff wore color coded scrubs, and black was radiology. They/we had no choice of what to wear to work.

I wish I could wear black scrub pants, but I have cats. Even if I don't wear them inside (all indoor cats) the hair seems to filter everywhere. I used to walk around with a lint roller, but I gave up and just wear the hair now, ha ha.

Our trauma facility recently went to black scrubs for all nurses and PT. This was voted upon by staff. Navy Blue lost by about 4 votes and a bunch of nursing running around complaining about the black and they didn't vote! Go figure. I am currently working in the office environment so I wear business attire!
