NET Testing

I have taken the NET test once and did not score high enough for the RN program at my college but did fine for the LPN progam. Our test are given on the computer, but there is also the pencil/paper version. Which is more difficult and is anybody else out there given the option of the two?

I took the computerized version of the NET - another nice thing is that the reading selection is viewable while you are answering questions about that specific paragraph.

As previous posters have stated it's more comprehension based - read a few paragraphs, answer a few questions about that paragraph, then answer a few questions on all the paragraphs together for a cental theme - rinse and repeat maybe 3 times or so.

I agree that the NET study guide helped build my confidence - I typically do very well in math standardized tests but struggle with the verbal portions so I was quite nervous about how I would do on that section.

Also, there was a section at the end that asked questions to ascertain what type of learner you are and also leadership qualities. I don't believe those are graded - more like the relaxation portion of the test. :)

I took the Accuplacer NET last Friday and checked online the school website for my score and it was there. I got 8406 but have no idea what this means. Another student got 9296, now I really feel like I didnt do well. Anyone know what these scores mean? Thanks

What is the math portion really like?

I am good with basic math and basic algebra, should I worry about this exam?

I suffer from severe math anxiety, i think. :)

If you are good with basic math and basic algebra, then there's nothing to worry about.

The NET is addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, basic algebra, percentage, and ratios. (Basic things...lol)

The Reading portion is not the easiest part. I recommend getting the NET Study Guide from Eriworld.com (or Ebay, etc). It is the most beneficial thing to study by.

Hello Everyone:

It is finals time! AAGGGHHHH! But anyway, I just received my NET test results and made an 84% composite score. I made 100% on math and 67% on the Reading comprehension. It says right now that the national composite avg is 61% and I am showing in the 94% for overall composite scoring. Is this good? My school is very precise about not contacting them regarding the test and I was wondering if any of you knew if this is good enough. The school nursing website states that they look at the composite and Reading comprehension in deciding. The letter I received from the school stated that I passed the NET test, but is this going to be good enough? Please help and God Bless and Happy Holidays to everyone.

...PS..To the person that asked about the study guide; if you can find the money for the book from ERIworld, please, please, please buy it. It prepares you very well for the test. The hints and clues that are in it helped me tremendously. I will say that the reading is much more difficult than the book lets on, but there are great study tools in it.:specs:

I think that your grades are awesome, but it really depends on your school.

My school requires 50 on the math and 50 on the reading to apply. That's all it is for. It isn't used for a bases on who gets in before who.

Your school may be different. You school may use the scores to help put people on a list of who gets accepted first.

Even still, I think your scores are great. I wouldn't give it another thought, unless you are told otherwise! :)

I am no expert on stantardized tests, and I haven't taken the NET yet, but if you score in the 94th percentile of anything, I would say you deserve a pat on the back. Great job!!!!!!

Thank you so very much for your replies. I feel much more confident about the test now. Now the waiting period begins. Our school doesn't let us know if we got in for the Fall 2006 semester until MAY!!! I am going to go out of my mind. Good luck once again to everyone and God Bless! FINALS ARE ALMOST OUT OF HERE!!!!

:biggringi The woman that deserves an award for "Greatest Act of Friendship" will go to one of the women in my class. She copied the study guide, ALL of the pages (inches thick!). :bow: She, another individual, and I are going to try to study, take, and yes pass, the NET. I, even with the gift of her time and ink, would not marry myself to one study guide. Do you eat the same thing for your daily nutrition? You can do it, just remember a rounded diet!

Go to amazon.com or ebay and get a study guide. I got a NET study guide and I also went to the local library to get a GED study guide. I had heard from several people that the GED is alot like the NET. I easily passed the NET but didn't get into nursing school -- 500 people applied for 50 spots.

What threw me off was the reading. Once you read a page you cannot go back.
