NET Testing

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

I have taken the NET test once and did not score high enough for the RN program at my college but did fine for the LPN progam. Our test are given on the computer, but there is also the pencil/paper version. Which is more difficult and is anybody else out there given the option of the two?

Thanks.

I took the NET test for LPN school more than a year ago. It was computerized and I didn't find it difficult at all. But, I use computers daily. Good Luck in nursing school :balloons:

i just took the NET on Friday.. I didn't score high enough in the reading. I feel like an idiot. Luckily for me I can re-take it in two weeks. I had no problem with the math portion, just the reading. I got the NET Study guide and reading that. The test I took was computerized too.

I took the computerized version as well.

MystyEMTB, don't feel like an idiot. Many people stress over the math portion thinking that will be the hardest part, and think the reading portion is just reading, punctuation, etc.

I think the NET Study Guide will help you, I'm glad you have it.

Watch the amount of time you take on each question, but don't rush through it too fastly.

Good luck to you all, and welcome to Allnurses.com.

I just took the NET last Friday..I think I did alright on the math part, but I'm not so sure about the reading part. But we didn't get a choice, we took it on pencil and paper. I really hope I did well because the school I want to get into , they only let you take it again a year later. So, since I took it on the 18th of November, 2005 I can't take it again until the 18th of November 2006!

Does anyone know a good online study guide for the NET? I need to take it, but I don't want to dish out 30 bucks for the study guide when that is how much the darn test costs.

Anything will help :)

Check Ebay, Half.com, Amazon, etc. I didn't find any online study source that covered the same information, and I didn't trust the one that I found 100 different websites selling the same product.

Is the reading part mostly comprehension or what is it like? I will be taking this once our school gets all set up (implementing new technology, etc.). Is the math a lot of algebra or more basics? I'm sure it's early to be freaking out about this - but I already am anyway. I have a study guide, but it's a generic for all nursing entrance exams rather than specific to the NET. I am under the understanding that the NET is split up into math/reading, is that it or am I off my rocker?

Thanks everybody!

Yes, basically it is split into the two parts. There is also a bunch of survey-type questions that really have nothing to do with anything. lol (reading speed, type of learner, stress level, etc)

The reading is NOT punctuation, etc. It is main idea, purpose of the author, etc. The reading part really makes you think. I recommend getting the NET Study Guide as I feel it was very helpful. I would have liked it to have more practice test, but at least it includes 2 reading and 2 math tests. ;)

Thanks Fun2Care - I appreciate that! Maybe I will see if I can find that book some time soon so I can start studying on it - never to early. :D Thanks again!

Here's a website I found... The questions are just like the NET study guide. I have never done the online one though, so good luck...
