Hi everyone. I just wanted to let you guys know that I am scheduled to take my NCLEX-RN exam for the second time on Wednesday (the 20th). I am very anxious about it and having doubts. I have been doing the NCSBN on line review course plus taking many test questions. However, I can't seem to score higher than 75-82%. Sometimes it seems more like high 60's to 70's. I think a few I got 80's on, but that is it. I just need some encouraging words, or maybe advice on rescheduling it all together. I just don't want to wait too long to test again. I want this so badly, part of me just wants to go and get it over with! Any suggestions anyone? Thanks! Wendy:)

How many questions have you actually done? You should count on having at least 3000 to 4000 done before taking the exam...........
Good luck with your test..............

Suzanne,
I know you highly recommend Saunder's book. And I am using the comprehensive one. I want to know, in order to be ready for the exam, what is percentage I should reach? Recently my score is like 80-85%, is it ready for scheduling the exam?

You only need a 51% to pass the nclex. I didn't do NCSBN, but I was doing some of the nclex cd's (Mosby, Kaplan, Saunders) & scoring around 70% (sometimes higher, sometimes lower, but average around 70). I passed the nclex the first time with 75 questions. Good luck to you....let us know how it goes.

To all the posters here. I see a pattern. You all are taking the test hoping to remember the answers to questions. Hoping you will see the question again.
What you need to do is UNDERSTAND the question and the reason for the answer.,, Then very few questions will baffle you.
Unfortunately, it's not the questions that you need to "know" you need to know how the questioner thinks.
Good luck.. Personally I'd stop studying. I believe you might be stressing yourself out. Too much studying can sometimes be worse that not enough
Just my opinion..

Well, I am also on the same boat. I am writing on the next TUESDAY! I feel I am ready but once I miss a right answer during practicing, I feel I am totally lost! I found this NCLEX preparation would be just endless....Although I did over 3000 questions, I still don't feel competent! There are so many good materials to study and each one of them makes you feel that you should do this and that before writing the exam...Well, at this point, we just must believe ourselves. I will pamper myself on Monday and get good foods and rest....Good luck on you guys! :chuckle

I am not ready to take my NCLEX yet . . . have one more semester to go. A friend of mine who completed the PN program said her classmate took the PN NCLEX. She said there were a lot of questions on there that she didnt know. She stayed with ABC and Safety and passed. GL with the test.

Wendy, Britt, and Rikomama those are all normal responses of anxiety that you all are feeling. I felt the same way when I took my test. When I would study and I would miss a question, I felt like I wasn't prepared. To tell you the truth I don't know if anyone has ever felt they were 100% prepared to take the NCLEX. I constantly felt like I needed to go over something because I never felf completely prepared. When I went to take my test, I went in there confident (tried to be), prayed up, and calm. I passed with 75 quest. But what got me through studying was that I focused on understanding "WHY" this and that happens. Once I had that concept down I was pretty much able to talk my way to the answer. One thing I had to tell myself was that I CAN'T KNOW EVERYTHING!!! There is no way to know every diagnosis, patho, drug, etc., etc. I felt the exact same way you all are feeling now. Some advice is to try and stay calm (even though is hard) , stay positive, and continue to tell yourself that you can do it, because you can!! Good luck you guys and keep us posted!!!! :) :)
