  1. Honey :rotfl: This is an FMC unit.. Where do you think I could even get a paper bag.. And a garbage liner wasn't good enough for him.. He wasn't carrying out a "garbage bag" .. Had nothing to do with the jug really. It was a control issue.. I saw that a long time ago. And actually understand it.
  2. I've been in dialysis since 1987.. No I don't remember the wash tub.. :rotfl: I love dialysis. It's my niche. I believe dialysis patients are some of the best taken care of patients. They see an RN ( this RN at least if I am on) 3 times a week. And with the new re-imbursement of Medicare are seen by a medical professional. MD, DO, or NP 4 times a month. Not to mention a dietician, and social worker as needed. Now if they don't feel they are getting great care it's because they aren't participating. Today we handed out urine jugs for 24 hour urines for CC. Now one patient refused to take the jug home cuz he didn't want anyone to see it. IMHO that's silly.. Who cares that he is carrying a jug. Now that's his choice and I can't make him adhere to his care regimen.. I told him the results would determine diet, dialysis time, dialyzer size and could mean a better dialysis session..Making him feel better in the long run. My education fell on deaf ears.
  3. OMG some units in Cali start at 0300...
  4. Some paper work had been shredded. And the government wants to be sure they are keeping every piece..All of them got subpeonaed earlier this year on a reimbursement issue of PTH's and Zemplar, Hecterol and Calcijex. ESRD is the only chronic illness totally funded by Medicare and these companies/clinics have to jump through hoops to get their money. Ya know the government.... :rotfl:
  5. What are the hours and will I get out on time usually, Will I be the only licensed person in the building often. Will I have adequate "down time" to do all the ancillary charting and monthly paper work, CQI projects etc. What can the PCT's do. Can they cannulate, intitiate and terminate dialysis on a catheter patient, give heparin. Will I have a med nurse or will I be in charge and give meds too. Does the doctor "require" me to round with him/her. Do you use NP's as PCP here. What kind of travel arrangements have been made for the patients. How long is your orientation and will part of it be with another RN for learning the charge position. Will someone in the technical department show me how to make bicarb and trouble shoot back "there" How long will it be before I am in charge. How long has the Clinical Manager been in dialysis if indeed he/she is qualified to even do dialysis. Will you help me get the 30 CEU's required after my two years of nephrology experience to sit for the CNN or the Certified Hemodialysis Nurse if I chose to. I could go on. Dialysis is a very narrow speciality and those of us in it love it. Or we get out. You need at least one year of Med/Surg experience. IMH that is better than ICU. Don't get me wrong ICU nurses are great but they are atuned to 1-2 patients and having up wards of 24 patients in a room can be daunting. Give it a try. It takes about a year to really "get" dialysis so don't become discouraged it you don't seem to be progressing as fast as you'd like to.
  6. P.S. I've never had a recruiter pay my bills yet.. :rotfl:
  7. What's your speciality? I've been traveling for almost 3 years. I'd never ever pay for private housing. These large companies are multi million dollar conglomerates. They can afford private housing for you. Many of the smaller independent companies have lots of assignements now or they can market you. I'd shop around.
  8. To all the posters here. I see a pattern. You all are taking the test hoping to remember the answers to questions. Hoping you will see the question again. What you need to do is UNDERSTAND the question and the reason for the answer.,, Then very few questions will baffle you. Unfortunately, it's not the questions that you need to "know" you need to know how the questioner thinks. Good luck.. Personally I'd stop studying. I believe you might be stressing yourself out. Too much studying can sometimes be worse that not enough Just my opinion..
  9. Bad and poor.
