Dialysis Travel Nurse salaries
Hello...I'm about to start travel nursing in dialysis. I've been told to ask for at least 40 an hr since I have more than 6 years chronic experience and 2 years acute experience. Does anyone know if that is about right? Or do you get more if you don't take housing? What types of things should I ask for on my contract? Thanks for your help :)

No More Bedside Nursing, I Quit!
When I went into Med/Surg right out of nursing school I was excited. That wore off quickly. Bedside nursing was frustrating, stressful, and felt more like I was a servant instead of a nurse. I hate being pulled in different directions and being yelled at and humiliated by nurses and patients because their priorities werent the same as mine. I left after 6 months because I was having health problems. And I felt guilty for the longest time for hating nursing. I still havent been able to find what area I feel I belong. I have tried Blood Bank nursing, public health clinic nurse, NICU, OB, and now I am a dialysis nurse. Some day I will find my niche and I hope you do too.

Infusion Therapy Nurse
Hello, I'm interested in becoming an Infusion Nurse. Does anyone out there know what route I should take to get on that track. I was nurse with a blood bank for over a year and now I'm a dialysis nurse.

I didnt know about the training thing either. I guess I should ask about that. It kinda makes me angry about the decrease in the annual raise. Especially where I am at in Ventura. It just makes no sense with the cost of living. Can't the nurses do something about that? It sounds so unreasonable and I feel helpless about what to do. That type of action makes me realize that FMC doesnt give a crap about it's workers. Maybe I'm just better off going back to county hospital at least there the union is constantly fighting for our benefits and raises.

Where did you interview? how many years experience do you have as an RN? What would have been your starting salary? Mine was 22

It's pretty ironic that I would come across this thread today. I am a new RN to FMC and I also thought it was weird that they would have an open house with clients on the dialysis machines. I was also trying to figure out why we dont get a raise after 6 months of working like most places offer. I was also surprised that the annual raise I was told about was only 3%. In Ventura, CA that barely covers the cost of living. So you are telling me that the annual raise used to be higher? That really sucks. I was kinda excited about trying out dialysis but it's really leaving a bad taste in my mouth about how slowly the raises will be coming especially since why are told about how important it is to save the company money any which way we can. Maybe I should just move on. THEN, I saw something about another subpeona. What the heck is that about?

I need advice from an experience nurse
I am a relatively new nurse. I have 6 months med surg experience from 2002. I hurt my back and went back to work in 2004 at a blood bank. I was bored after a year. I just took a job at a Dialysis Center to try something different but I cant help but feel that I am missing something. I've been looking into other types of nursing and keep getting the "you need more med surg" shpeel. I dont think I was good med surg nurse because I am not a very organized person by nature. I did love the learning, the critical thinking, and the skills. Although I like keeping busy, I hated the constant feeling of always being tugged at all sides to get everthing done at the same time. I'm contemplating returning to med surg to continue the experience so I can move on to other things. I have to so many interests and I seem to get bored easily and feel maybe it's best to get a good foundation first. Can anyone help?
