Nervous about Chemistry

Hi Everyone!

I am having major anxiety about starting Chemistry next week!

Is there anyone who has a little advise? Anything I can get to help me pass this class.

I, of course, really need an A which is really stressing me out!

Just take your time and study it. I was terrified and realized I had no problems in that class. It all builds on the previous lesson so just make sure you practice it and use your study guide. You will do fine.

I am in summer chem now & in ends in exactly one month. My advice:

Buy the textbook & solutions manual for practice problems.

Make flash cards for formulas.

Email your teacher with questions.

Find out if your school has a tutoring center.

Take your time in lab & put forth the effort. I hate lab but have an A in that, which I know can help boost my low B in lecture (our final lab grade makes up 30% of our lecture grade).

Use youtube for extra explanations of concepts! I have used Khan Academy & Papapodcasts when my book has sucked.

Is it an intro level Chem course (no previous chem in high school or college) or is this a full blown Chem I course?

If it's an intro level Chem, relax. It's not as intense as you think.

If it's a full Chem I course, then I would suggest you bone up on conversions (e.g. know how to convert to kilo, centi, milli, micro, nano, inches to cm, pounds to kilos, etc.) You'll also need to brush up on dimensional analysis. You will use this a LOT in Chem!

Khan Academy has some great videos online that cover this (and they're free). If your school offers Supplemental Instruction, go!

Best of luck to you :D

I'm in a summer chemistry class, 4 weeks left. All i can say is don't fall behind, take good notes, use flash cards, do study groups, take your time on homework, brush up on your basic algebra, and don't be afraid to ask questions!

Good luck!

I'm in summer chem right now and honestly, it sucks. But it is completely doable. Try not to stress to much. Make sure you read the chapters and take good notes. Google chemistry for dummies and look at what that says. It broke things down really well for me. Good luck :)

Don't make it harder than what it is! I did that, I freaked myself out and thought I was going to flunk. It's a lot of problems and formulas and what really helped me was PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE those problems! Look up your choices for professors if you have flexibility with your schedule.

You'll do great! It sounds a lot scarier than it is :)
