I'm tryting to become a neonatologist and am wondering if getting my bachelors in ultrasounding counts as a pedatric degree? also interested in knowing for any baby nurses out there where you were able to get your degree I live in the west coast and havent had much luck in finding a med school for it

Why would I think ultrasounding would be any part of a pediatric requirement ? Hmmmm maybe cause your dealing with the body and pregnancies? Maybe cause you need to know the development of the fetus? You don't have to be so rude. And there is a bachelors in it. I already know what school I'm going to for it. That wasn't my question. As for med school. I'm fully aware that I need to go to med school. -_- That question was how can I find a school where I can become a neonatologist? Like specific med schools.

It doesn't matter which med school you go to. After med school, youll need to match to a pediatrics residency (which could be at the same school or anywhere else in the country). After you complete your pediatric residency, you'll need to match to a neonatology fellowship.

Huh?

Your post is confusing,do you want to become a doctor or nurse. If the former you need to speak with board certified Neonatologists.

Why are you seriously reconsidering? I'm not in any debt and I've been paying for my education myself.

No that's not where I got my information from.

Based on other posts, I've gleaned that she's in her third year at a community college, working on her general education requirements to apply to the nursing? program.

That is exactly where I am at

If you want to be a neo, you should start looking at med school admissions websites now to see what you'll need. Nursing will be fine as a major, and working as a nurse will count as your medical experience, but you'll have to take additional classes after you graduate before you could apply to med school. You could possibly get an RN job in an NICU if you're willing to move around and apply all over. That would be the best pre-medical school experience you could probably get in the NICU. BTW, I'm a certified NICU RN in school to become an NNP right now.

My advice is to first focus on basic writing communication skills (spelling, grammar, etc.) before focusing on med school. This post and thread is evidence as to why that's important. In the medical field (and any field actually) words mean things. Specifics are important.

With the research I found it said a bachelor degree in pediatrics i was planning on doing ultrasounding. I am going to school in Idaho but will go to Weber State in Utah. But I wasn't sure if ultrasound for sure counted as pediatrics so that's good to know. My next thing is knowing where to go for med school.

There is no such degree as a "Bachelor Degree in Pediatrics".

I am wanting to become a neonatologist. What bachelor do I need to start my schooling in the right direction? And what sort of medical schools should I be looking at for the future?

You would be better served looking into medical student forums or approaching an academic advisor. As this site is geared to nurses, we are not typically going to be able to guide you on another career path.
