Hi all!!! Is anyone out there applying for the Nurse Education Loan Repayment for 2011..I came across the thread for 2010 but was just looking for some additional support...ahhhh!!!!!!!! Its so stressful!
Thanks!
Winnie - what do you mean you sent in too much information? What over-information did you send!?? Also, what is your base annual salary? Because I have about 95,000 in loans and my debt-income ratio is 155% (I thought it was only 140-something but I recalculated it)? So if your is 60% that would mean that you make more annually (a good bit more). Are you an RN or a NP? or CRNA?
KeeKeeRN, I don't think you multiply anything by 100!?? I didn't when I got my 155%.
Now I am getting even more nervous with the blue AND GOLD team thing. I think I'm gonna call customer service and see if I can get any answers...
Ha!! Yes, that is how I got mine too, sorry, I guess in my head I didn't multiply it by 100. But yes you definitely have to multiply by 100 and that is how you get it! OK - So I have information guys! I called HRSA about the blue team thing and a very nice young man stated that there are 3 different teams, Blue, Red and Gold! And each team is responsible for a different set of states! So IF you get awarded, that would be more significant for you to notify your specific team about changes in your contract, time off, etc....
He says that the color team doesn't matter at this point (in relation to if you get awarded or not). This person also said that you may get notified of award via email?!! Not letters this year....guess we'll see. Hope this helps everyone out!
Thanks alot for the info Amy! So, u didnt address that part of my question but what do u think about the part where I think the credit check that HRSA does is for overall debt check one may have on their credit against ur overall income to debt ratio for the selection process? I say this because they have to have a reason y some ppl with higher debt to income ratio may not get the award and someone with less may have gotten it in previous years.
i am not sure about the credit check. I know for a fact that they are checking to see if you have defaulted on any federal debt and to see if you have any liens against you (hence while the guy with the child support issue probably did not get awarded), but I am unsure as to if they check and see how much debt you are actually in or if that even matters or not! It says point blank on the instructions that they do the credit check to see if you have defaulted on a federal loan and if you have, you are ineligible. And on the application itself, it asks if you have any liens against your property or self. I wonder if they do care how much debt you are in.

Based on this link, for u guys who got an email, are u guys on the top 100 DSH hospitals list with HRSA? I'm not, should i be concerned i may not be in top preference? Ughh, the stress......
KeeKeeRn, I think that link is old though. That was when the program was first beginning. Now there's a new list with all the hospitals that qualify I think. I am NOT on that list. I did get an email though. I work @ Tulane and there's a new list with all the DSH hospitals in the country on it, and you can check and see if your hospital is on THAT LIST.

Hello All,
I am new to this site and wanted to respond a little as well. Like you all I am very nervous and now even more after reading all the responses. I have too received the email from the blue team (I am in IN), faxed accordingly, exclamation point behind my name, dates changed on the loan page, inquiries on my credit report from two different places, and no negative events on my credit report. The main question I have is if you all are figuring your debt to income ratio correctly. On the HRSA website it is your income divided by the amount of your student loan. This makes mine to be around 60%. If you guys are doing correctly do you have 200,000 or more in student loans? I am just curious because I only have 110,000 and wondered if there is even a chance of getting it. This is my third year applying. Last year I received that letter that was talked about in earlier post that stated I was eligible but denied. I researched this last year and sent in an inquiry of why. They emailed me back and basically said that I was selected, but I had sent in too much information. I believe that was extremely helpful. I realize this is like the lottery, but the waiting is killing me just like you all.
