NELRP 2011 awardees

Nurses General Nursing

So, I decided to start the thread as Strider suggested. Great idea ;) for us awardees to start talking. I have read that the way we get further taxed is that this now becomes a part of our reported taxable income when we file taxes, so thats how we are taxed twice unfortunately.

A few questions:

1. Do we have to spend all of our monthly money the day it gets deposited? Or within the month? Or...is it all "A ok" as long as all the designated money goes to your loans at some point?

2. Is there some type of way we are supposed to keep track/provide proof we are using all the money toward our loans?

3. What about our paper work proving we are still at our critial shortage facility? Isn't that every 6 mo?? And where do we get the paper work?

Congrats to us all and thanks for the input! :D

I think at some point NELRP will ask for a verification from your student loan servicer about your payments, so if they ask about 6mos when it starts then there better be 6 payments made, I don't think it matters how you allocate it. Yes they will do employment verification checks probably quarterly.

Yay! I got my deposit today, i'm so grateful. :yeah:

As a side note: I believe I speak for most of us when I say this blog was created as a supportive, positive network to help each other through what has been a long, stressful and truly deserving process, so any negative or demeaning comments are not appreciated at this time. If you paid off all your loans and didnt need this program then Big Ups to you, as for the rest of us I am so thankful and so proud cuz we deserve this, yes we are so deserving of this money. Continue to do a wonderful job out there nurses! :yeah:

Suzy, I think you can do it however you want, as long as the money is being used appropriately. I bet they send us the paperwork they want us to fill out.

Keekee, nicely put! I was thinking the same thing.

Got my deposit today too! So exciting!

I had gotten my deposit yesterday as well! I noticed too that when I paid my Sallie Mae loan, it wasn't as easy and cut and dry as I thought it would be. I had to put some of the monies toward different percentages of one loan and so on...so since I had consolidated some of my loans, there were different percentages on different amounts. Anyways, what I ended up doing was putting the most money toward the higher percentage. I am hoping that in the end, that will take some of the load off of the whole amount. At least I hope that's what will happen! Anyways, yes, I am very happy we all got this award and that we were all there for each other through this long and drawn out process! Congrats again everyone and here's to a much more happier two to three years! I am taking this month to enjoy myself. I will start crackin down on my other bills starting in October. My husband and I both figured we would take one month to relax and chill. But luckily we're doing it this month because it seems this one month was harder bill-wise for us anyways so we're glad we are doing it this month. Hopefully we'll start noticing the relief and change in our bank account after this one month! Thanks for your support everyone!

KeeKee- Completely agree with your earlier post, but I don't think Robbie meant that comment to be offensive. Sometimes it can be hard to read people in text! :)

I got my deposit 9/19/11 also! What a load off my back! It just makes you breathe a little easier doesn't it?

Also, in regards to my earlier post... I called the HRSA desk and they said no matter how/when you distribute the funds doesn't matter as long as by the end of the 2 yr contract period every penny has gone toward your qualifying loans. They also said at the end of the 2 yrs the lenders will have a record of payments and that's all you need as proof. No form from HRSA, notta. I personally plan of keeping a record anyway. I don't trust computers! LOL

CONGRATS TO EVERYONE AGAIN! :yeah:
