I was just wandering if those of you who work in the Las Vegas hospitals experience the same problems as those who post on the other forums.

I am applying now to take the Nclex exam in Las vegas and if I pass (hopefully) I will start my career there.I am just hoping that on my first day exposure inthe hospital,it will be pleasant, although it will be a nervous in my part but still Im hoping that it will be fine.I hope I will pass the test....Does everybody here willing to give me a tipon how to pass the exam on first attempt?:)

daisymp, I'm taking the NCLEX next week also. I suggest going to the NCLEX forum. There's a lot of tips in the threads there. Good Luck!

I arrived in Las Vegas at 3 AM with my U_HUAL from New Orleans. It was dead....Nothing open....not even a gas station for miles.

New Orleans was a party town...opps, look what happened to it.

Hope to have better luck here. You know what the Lord did to those hospitals in New Orleans.

Agree to above post. Don't want to work for HCA or Tenet unless there is a union to represent me.

leslymill- you might want to start a new thread since this thread is almost four years old.

Hmmm....I have been in school full time for the last 2 years and have 2 children that get really excited to cross through the strip on Flamingo or Trop--because they never see it. Las Vegas is a party town for people visiting--of course but it's still a city where people live and function. I am slightly offended that someone would make such a generalized statement about the people of Las Vegas like that. I live in a quiet neighborhood that looks no different than your typical subdivision anywhere else in North America. Like someone else said, there are plenty of things to do and see outside of the strip. Aside from people I know that work on the strip, I dont' know anyone who is there partying it up on a daily basis. But, it's true, you don't really know that unless you actually live here. I have friends in Los Angeles that come here to play golf almost every month...and they came to my house and were bewildered to learn that we had freeways out here and neighborhoods that you can't even see the night lights from. People that don't live here imagine prostitution on every corner, criminals and images of drugs and sex everywhere. That is so untrue. Sure we have our "bad areas" but I mean, what city doesn't? Vegas is a wonderful place to raise a family and live in. It is growing and has everything any other big city in America has (except an Ikea which I want badly lol) but honestly the cost of living is enough for me to able to give my children a house with a backyard and all the goodies--and that's something I wouldn't be able to afford to do elsewhere.

Maybe the negativity would dissipate if there were enough nurses to lower the nurse:pt ratio---very true. Therefore people thinking about the move should strongly consider it. Don't be afraid of the stereotypical "Sin City" that the nation has tagged us for. If you can stand the heat--come on down.

Bring lots of lotion and drinking TONS of water. That is the only way to stand the heat. This town is tame. I like it that way.

Lol, yes definitely LOTION! We go through it by the gallon at my house...to anyone who is still planning a move--if you weren't a moisturizing person, you will be. Nobody is an exception to ashy elbows and knees over here! Leslymill, I'm glad you're move went well. Congrats and I wish you the best, keep us posted on your adjustment to viva las vegas.
