before you can work as a nurse, you'll have to undergo training first as stated in the Nursing Act of 2002:

Acticle V: Nursing Education

Sec. 26. Requirement for Inactive Nurses Returning to Practice. - Nurses who have not actively practiced the profession for five (5) consecutive years are required to undergo one (1) month of didactic training and three (3) months of practicum. The Board shall accredit hospitals to conduct the said training program.

but if youre going to work here first, you have to undergo training since you were inactive for the last ten years. you should consult the BON

As for me taking the cgfns exam, I think it's for the future, if in case after years of working in the Phils, I decide to work abroad, I think I can use it as my passport, sort of. My friends told me that cg is better coz it is a lifetime license together with ielts, unlike ncclex it has some sort of expiration so one has to work in the US within 2 years, are they correct? Also one thing ncclex, is they said, also has limited coverage unlike cg, it has more coverage, kindly educate me. And I plan to work here for years coz I think agencies would like their applicants to have at least 2 years nursing experience.

You got all wrong infos. The NCLEX RN is the licensing exam to be a US Nurse.

Please listen to what Suzanne and other posters has already said. The CGFNS examintaion is gradually being phased-out and if you read the stickies here and in the Int'l forum you'll know that only a few State BON requires the CGFNS exam.

that's right. only the NCLEX-RN exam will give you the visa to work in the states as a nurse. so shift your plans from cgfns exam to NCLEX-RN exam.

hi! dont worry too much about not having enough experience as a nurse, there are still a lot of hospital out there that accepts those who doesnt have experence..(jose reyes for ex.) I too have been out of the nursing scene for ages due to my having a family and had gone back to practice only recently. Iam skipping cg too as advise by suzanne, in the meantime Iam doing my self review for the nclex...Good luck to us both:balloons:

Hi! my papers are ready for sending but, I want to be fully prepared for the exam so im doing a self review first and enroll in a regular review class afterwards. I been working for the last 2 or 3 yrs. I think thou not continously( hard for a mom like me). I been out for about 10 yrs. the first time I went back to practice I was so nervous, and insecure of my younger counterparts, I have to ask them about almost anything good thing all of them are nice and helpful.
