Needing an honest answer

Nurses General Nursing

Published

As nurses why do you guys think that medications only treat the symptoms of a disease instead of curing the disease? Is it because no one has come up any cures yet? () Or do you guys think it's a conspiracy?

I for one think it's a conspiracy and that's what I'm writing a paper on. Just wanted to know how you all felt. Thanks.

Side note: OMG just noticed I put "and" instead of "an" in my title. Disregard Please!

Oh horse pucky.

It's not eating the young to disagree with an idea or to respond with sarcasm. The poster presented an outlandish idea in a poorly thought out manner. The responses would have been the same if she'd been a nurse for 20 years.

Yea okay, back at ya!

Is it so necessary to jump on the bandwagon and call her ignorant, idiot, etc.? So what she posted something you thought was ignorant, it still doesn't mean people have to throw personal insults? You can disagree respectfully. When you start throwing personal insults it just shows your own ignorance and immaturity.

Plenty of people here responded and told her it was not a good idea and not well thought out, without the name calling and immature attacks.

And if the responses would have been the same if she was an experienced nurse, I hope I don't ever get so high up on my horse that I feel the need to personally insult anyone to that extent.

Darn sometimes people just have to be mean when it really isn't necessary.

I can't help you with your "conspiracy," but I did change the "and" to "an" in your title for you!!! :)

THANK YOU!

That was driving me crazy.

So, you get mad and lecture another poster about calling someone ignorant. Then you call the poster you're lecturing ignorant.

I think this is a prime example of nurses eating their elders.

As for calling the OP's idea foolish and stating that said idea was evidence of ignorance-well-if the shoe fits...

Sometimes you've got to call a spade a spade.

This is getting a bit like those situations where someone steps in to break up a fight, only to be attacked by someone else! Sorry guys, but I think the OP's gone! She hasn't posted anything in the past 2 days, despite being offered some really excellent, constructive advice, and now here's two of you at each other's virtual throats...

Pity she's gone, I would have loved to have told her about some of our "practitioners of alternative medicine" in South Africa. We are regularly offered pamphlets on the street advertising these guys' amazing achievements.

They can provide medicine to make dinky willies bigger.

They can Treat bad spirits in your house. (Not difficult, just break all the bottles :lol2:)

They can give herbs to cure AIDS.

Hell! they even have a booster that can ensure you get promotion at work, and get nasty bosses fired!

And there was a debate in Parliament surrounding whether they had the right to claim payment from medical insurance...:D

They are called Sangomas, although you would probably call them witch doctors or shamans.

Of course, we also have the Rastafarians, whose stalls are to be found in almost every informal trading area. They sell a variety of medicinal herbs; some are displayed, while others are not...:smokin:

. . . .They can provide medicine to make dinky willies bigger.

:):):):):) That's universal. Lots of demand I guess. We seem to come down pretty hard on alternative treatments here in the US but trust me-- they try very, very hard to flourish here anyway. So far most have been kept out of the realm of being paid for by the public. I think Massage Therapy is an exception to that. Our neighbors to the south are a little more tolerant of "curanderas" who use various potions to acheive results in various areas of life and psychic healers are allowed to advertise on television but not here. We had one I liked "Miss Cleo"- she was a hoot!

The OP asked for HONESTY, not sugar-coated civility. That's what he/she got!

It's evident the point was missed. :uhoh3:

Christine you're right.

Oh well....it should end here, it's not worth it to spend anymore time on this topic.

You guys have a good holiday weekend.:redpinkhe

No holiday here, just your standard two-day weekend. And I'm on call anyway. :crying2:

BUT, no call-out yet, so wish me luck! But you guys all have a whale of a time!

Is this book meant to be taken seriously? What are this guy's credentials?

Heck no. LOL. At least, not by me. Someone might, I dunno. I just didn't feel like typing a sarcastic note underneath it, lol.

But you guys all have a conspiracy of a time!

Fixed!
